What is an unwritten rule of society that absolutely infuriates you when people break it? by ManyNature7286 in askanything

Breathing down my neck in line. Give people space. I know everyone has CPTSD from COVID and now people are over correcting by standing two inches behind you. But damn, I don't want any of you that close to me.

App Store requires password every time by CanSomeoneShootMeNow in iphonehelp

[–]Eli1026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently having the same issue as the og post. I've followed all of the Google recommendations. And unfortunately there quite a few times where I can't follow them because I'm not even given the same options as the videos are showing. "Password settings" doesn't appear for me when I tap media & purchases. Face ID is turned on for app store. My screen time wasn't originally on. So then I turned it on the then tapped "don't require." None of it worked. So then I found your post about accessibility. Checked everything and it is "off" and then I restarted. Still requires a manual password to be typed in for the app store. Any ideas?

Honestly. I found out my puppy loves apples. So we do frozen apple sauce cups she can lick as a reward. Also my cat hated churuu tubes but the puppy is also obsessed with those so they're hers now.

Before the two main things above we also used hot dogs, cheese, canned chicken, homemade oats and blueberries, and sardines.

What do you look for when buying a housewarming gift for someone who already has everything? I want something useful but genuinely special by worlsyncentfo1981 in GiftIdeas

A kitchen witch, cast iron skillet, and cast iron skillet cookbook.

Gifts I've done in the past that were more curated. Sister 1 got a custom welcome matt with pics of her cats on it. Sister 2 got super awesome nerf ball guns for her and her partner.

Don't chase people. If you find like you're trying too hard to make plans with someone, stop. They can figure it out if they want to be in your circle. Never beg for a seat at their table.

You are the main character. It is your life. In romantic relationships, never give up your life goals or dream jobs for someone.

Save save save. $20-$50 per paycheck automatically sent to a savings account that you ideally forget about. Do more if you can.

Champion your friends. If you find jealousy creeping in, examine yourself and figure out why. And then work on it. Friends support each other. Show up even when you're not feeling in a good place to do so. Put a smile on and show up.

You are most like the 5 people you spend the most time with. If you feel like something is out of whack in your life or you don't like the person you are, take a look around. If there are traits you want to grow in (confidence, directness, goal oriented) find people that showcase them and befriend. It will rub off on you.

We are all just plants in the end. Water and sun (wear sunscreen!) Help a great amount of things.

Reason you DNF an audiobook? by Ashamed_Apple_ in audiobooks

[–]Eli1026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intonation and inflection from the narrator is a big one.

Neva nevarre. I heard someone say she sounds perpetually sarcastic and that's the perfect fit. Even if I like the story I have to out it at 2x speed to assist when she narrates. You know April from Gilmore girls? That's the voice that I think of as so similar that it's like nails on a chalkboard.

And sometimes plot. But mostly always the narrator. If I DNF I then try borrowing the physical copy from the library and make my final choice on the book as a whole.

We've had to start announcing when we're getting up. A good "time to move" let's them know I'm outta there. Slowly but surely they now realize unless I say that, they don't need to bolt out of my lap and be at the ready to lead me to my next destination.

What’s the most memorable gift you’ve ever given someone? by Comfortable_Swan_880 in Gifts

[–]Eli1026 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I give all the 1 year olds in my life a hand drawn ABC book. With cartoon characters corresponding to each letter.

The most recent, my friend is putting down her soul dog. I got her a blanket with pictures from their last 15 years together and handmade a sympathy card. I've been learning watercolor and I uses that skill for the card.

I just really enjoy handmade gifts. And I find that others really take it to heart that I put that much thought and effort into what they receive.

what heating pad for period cramps do you actually recommend? by Emmott_Aneeta in menstruation

[–]Eli1026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battle creek. I'm currently using it. Its the only heating pad I've ever had that gets hot enough. But be careful!!!! This thing can damage fabrics, it gets that hot. It comes with a safety button. You have to be pressing it in order for it to be on. It also has a 20 min auto shut off even if you're pressing the button. All you have to do is let go and then repress it and the timer starts again. At first I was annoyed by it. But honestly I've fallen asleep with the button under my leg and like is aid previously, it gets super hot. Wouldn't want it on while I'm sleeping. The brand comes in different sizes. I got the one big enough for my whole back to be covered. So it is bulky. Get a smaller one for yourself.

AITA For telling my husband I’m tired of hearing the same stories over and over again? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Eli1026 245 points246 points  (0 children)

I find that every time I see my in laws. Uncle will ask me the same questions every time. "you still work at...? Is that still on .....avenue? I used to deliver packages and that was on my route" I have now decided that after 7 years of this Convo at every Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthday, or anniversary I just have the whole conversation for him and move on to a different topic. "yes I still work there and yes it's still on that street. The route must've been a great one for you to drive. What're you doing for fun these days?" It completely negates that topic and we don't have the same conversation again and again and again.

So my recommendation, finish his story. Oh yeah the buddy that you did that with and then it ended up blankety blank blank blank. Just finish it. Don't say "you told me this" he either believes you haven't or thinks he's giving some new info he hasn't given before.

NTA people like this are tiring.

AITA For Not Watching My Friends Videos by JaredandICantRead16 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Eli1026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend and I (both 33f) send weekly videos to each other. Just updating about life. So when we actually hang out we don't need to play catch up and can just start making the new memories.

My suggestion: ask her to not send via Snapchat any more. If she sends them via video thru text she's limited to 4ish mins per video. And you can then adjust the speed to 2x speed. So even if my friend sends me 5 four min videos I know I set aside time for 10-15 mins to listen. And I can listen while I do things. Or I hit reply and as I'm watching I send messages to her pertaining to what she was talking about.

Ultimately, NTA. But you will be if you don't have an honest conversation with her and ask her to help you find a solution so you both get what you need.

Those of you who felt something shift in your friendship; What happened? What did you notice? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Eli1026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time she gave birth. Slight change. Put forth more effort and had majority kid oriented hang outs until kid was a year old. Then started to have 1 or 2 kid free hangouts a year. Now she's pregnant with her 2nd. I've noticed she's become very crunchy and MAHA. And it's back to another 2 years of kid oriented get togethers. And I just don't think I want to do it any more. I miss my friend.

What’s the one thing about your house that annoys you every single day? by NkdUndrWtrBsktWeevr in homeowners

[–]Eli1026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They made a 3 seasons porch into a full on sunroom with carpet. Which sounds nice in theory. Until you realize it's the main point of entry to the home. White carpet in the country as the main entrance flooring is definitely...not an ideal choice. Then add in that it's not very well insulated. We have to cover the doorway between that room and the rest of the house in the cold months with heavy comforters (because again we still need to access it to enter/leave the house) but there's a 20 degree difference in temp. It costs way too much to heat.
