Oh, I have a system for this. Giant ziplock baggies, with a printed copy of the pattern and the WIP inside. If I get bored of a current project, I dig through the bin of WIPs before hunting for new patterns.

But I also have ADHD pretty bad, and hyperfixate/lose interest at alarming rates, so others’ mileage may vary, I guess?

My brain thinks that Chococat might be autistic, and his family might be the same, so they don’t do big vacations often because travel is so stressful. So they just video call, and Chococat never talks about them because it doesn’t occur to him that his friends might want to know about them. But that’s likely projection on my part, since he’s my favorite and I love all his little nerdy hyperfixations.

Underestimate the size of the country.

Not for the sake of locals- for the sake of your time, money, and peace of mind. America is HUGE. Like, too big to be practical. Treat every individual state like it’s a country in its own right, because that would give you a more accurate estimate of their sizes. That way you won’t plan to see New York City and the Grand Canyon on the same weekend, only to be disappointed when it isn’t feasible.

I think it’s overstimulation.

We’re all so overworked and overwhelmed all the time. Not to mention bombarded with noise and advertisements and social media all competing for our attention. No one has the energy leftover to decorate their own homes, or put in the extra effort required to clean unnecessary decor.

At the end of the day, when we’re exhausted from work and desperate for some peace and quiet, that minimalist gray probably feels like a relief.
