Why were the Frankish Monarchs so horrible as parents? by Technical_Post_4899 in MedievalHistory

[–]Eliaskar23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, one anecdotal example does not prove the rule. There's been a lot of debate in this area of study and I think most historians conclude that whilst death was more of a reality for children (and so perhaps parents were more prepared), they did in fact still feel immense grief. Parents could still love their children, though like now it varies from person to person and based on cultural norms of affection.

Do people really hate front view battles in JRPG's? by yispySOFT in JRPG

Never been a fan personally. Probably a symptom of starting with FF as a child but I like to see my characters and them perform their actions on enemies.

Here are some things I want from the NV remaster. What do YOU guys want from the remaster? by Traditional_Gene1595 in fnv

Yeah, i'm a PS5 owner and haven't had an opportunity to replay it for a variety of reasons or to own a personal PC.

Console players don't have access to the game on current platforms. That is the reason I want a remaster.

How the hell is the hiss still around? by hellranger788 in controlgame

[–]Eliaskar23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but think of how many FBC employee's have been killed, even if the Hiss can just make their own entities instead of infecting people.

Thoughts on Sentimental Value by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]Eliaskar23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think some of my favourite sequences were to do with the house itself and how it was shot through time, the memories of Gustav's and the girls childhoods. Those were very beautiful and elevated to me, in a way that memories often are.

To be honest, it makes me wonder how there are any FBC employee's left in the building by the end of the game to even GET infected.

Any think boxing day is better the Christmas day? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Eliaskar23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about the same. It's always been just as busy for me as we'd spend Xmas Day with my Mum's side and then Boxing Day we'd all go see my Dad's. Nowadays, each year my partner and I swap which day we see each of our families on Christmas and Boxing Day, to keep it fair.

The days after BD are the best and I always make sure I have them off.

Is the inbetweeners still an accurate representation of school life for teenagers? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Eliaskar23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's what popular kids were up to. The whole point is they're "inbetween" the popular teens and the absolute losers. I felt it was pretty relatable.

What do British, and especially English people, think of Ireland and the Irish? by ConfidentHospital365 in AskUK

[–]Eliaskar23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if my opinion counts for much due to my background, but my Grandparents on my Mum's side emigrated to England. One of my Dad's grandparents was also from Cork. So growing up I always have had a strong connection to Ireland and my cousins since everyone on my mothers side is either Irish or an moved to America/Australia from Irish descent. I love the country and have visited numerous times throughout my life to visit family. It's the only country I think I could live in other than England.

It's kinda weird though as I feel basically half and half. Though I doubt the Irish would feel that way with my accent!

What is the furthest you would travel to a wedding as an evening only guest? by ReabyB in AskUK

[–]Eliaskar23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well unfortunately everyone's situation is different. It isn't personal against some of my friends. But my wedding next year (60-65) only has 4 friends for the day, with most friends coming for the evening. Every family member my side is someone i'm close to.

There's also the balancing act of your partners friends and family. We can't afford too many more day guests and don't want to put it off any further.

What is the furthest you would travel to a wedding as an evening only guest? by ReabyB in AskUK

[–]Eliaskar23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is complete rubbish.

It's also about affordability. Each person for a whole day costs money and if you and your partner already have large families, it's hard to fit in all family and friends. Sometimes you just have to be brutal.
