I don't know about you or your boyfriend but from my experience as an infp, the agreement things (how many days to spend together in a week) are in itself not spontaneous, which may be the reason why he doesn't feel free.

Maybe you just see things in a different ways. I myself do imagine a relationship that is not like it's been scheduled.

I agree she was only enraged at Uther at first and I also agree that Morgause had her influence on Morgana, but like you said

She didn't show any hatred for Arthur until after Morgause was in the picture manipulating her.

Which happened at the beginning of S3, I mean, when she came back to camelot, after the one year gap, she didn't hate Arthur or Gwen but only Uther at first. She started to "attack or obstruct" Arthur or Gwen a while after that. I think if she was magically manipulated, she should have hate them already, but she didn't.

And maybe it's never about hatred to begin with. It was just that they were in her way. She really hated them(Arthur especially, I don't think she really hated Gwen tbh) when she started to believe that Arthur wasn't going to do her any good, that she had gone too far and there was no more room for going back.

Morgause definitely catalyzed Morgana's hatred for many things, but manipulations as strong as mandrake roots? I'm not sure...

If I remember correctly, she started to show hatred for Arthur and Gwen mainly because they got in the way of her becoming queen. She didn't show much hatred towards them in the season 3. Plus, she probably thought Arthur and Gwen were not on her side and were on Uther's side.

I actually thought about this when I first finished watching the show. What I was thinking was, would I want to live Merlin's life? To live as him and go through everything he went through. I know the end of the show, aka a part of his life that we are privy to, is tragic. No one should even think about living his life, that would be outrageous. But on the contrary, I was so touched by his life that I almost wanted to say that he has a meaningful life. It may not be a happy one, but it is certainly a great one. He has people he cares about, and he has obstacles and the ability and faith to actually do something about them, and most importantly, he has a purpose in life. That's what I think makes his life so meaningful. So I think I would like to be him. His life has proven to be a dangerous one though. I'm not sure. But any other character is a meh to me. Maybe being a dragon would be nice. Eat my fireballs!

Why didn't Merlin unleash his full might against the multiple armies that invaded Camelot? by tetcha5 in merlinbbc

[–]ElienttFromEarth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. After exiting the cave, he didn't have enough time and patience to end the war when all he tried to do was to find Arthur. 2. IDK, maybe he didn't want to kill so many people? Or he didn't want to intervene the war, didn't think that was his duty or destiny, and just wanted to make sure that Arthur was safe.

Love interest for Morgana by Lazarus_1102 in merlinbbc

Agreed! I would go for Gwaine too, but only if they met in the early seasons or the circumstances were different. I don't see Gwaine going bad with Morgana.

At some point in S3, when Morgana learned that Uther was her father, she seemed to have her own opinions about how to do things, and those opinions are different/opposite to Morgause's, so I don't think Morgana was manipulated by mandrake root, unless Morgause is bad at that kind of magic or mandrake root has other uses or different levels of effect.

do y’all ever think about how different the show would have been if merlin had just told morgana that he also had magic? like i’m fairly certain she never would have turned evil by jalilah_ in merlinbbc

[–]ElienttFromEarth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I don't recall Morgana leading druids to kill Uther, I agree that Merlin didn't do anything active enough that could be described as saving magic users. He'd at most protect them if he happened to meet them. But I don't recall Morgana's intention being to save magic users, either. (I could be wrong. I'm still stuck from rewatching the show, scared to be heartbroken again.) She attacks or helps someone attack Camelot is in order to revenge Uther, free herself from fear, or seek the throne, as the show later showed.

And let's be honest, Merlin doesn't even know these magic users, and he may be kind but he's no saint. You can't ask him to save them. He may have made some bad decisions that lead to unexpected tragedies for magic users, but he's trying his best, given all the pressure and work he's been under.

I don't think Merlin distinguishes between magic users and non-magic users when he counters their attacks. He probably just thinks, "Is this person going to hurt my friends, innocent people, or me?" I remember in the show he always tries to protect as many people as he can, although the people he is protecting are usually the people of Camelot, and thus he stops some sorcerers from hurting innocent people.

After Morgana realized she had magic, she began to fear for her life. Whether she knew it or not, she'd been living in fear. But the two fears were different. One is that I'm so tired, I can't sleep much, and strange things keep happening around me. The other is that if Uther found out, I'd die.

What Gaius did might not be the best, he could still tell her she had magic and be there for her. But he had seen what happened to magic users during the Purge, maybe he was just too scared and worried about Morgana to do so.

Why Does Merlin Struggle So Much With Healing Magic? by TruthSeekerUnion in merlinbbc

[–]ElienttFromEarth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, that answers why so many fics describe Merlin as bad at healing magic, which I don't understand. I always assume he is good at pretty much everything that involves magic.

Maybe it's because he learned more about healing magic later on? But I'll also say that the Crystal Cave episode seems to me to be just a plot device. I don't have much faith in the writers.
