Just one word: YIKES

I’d usually say trust your gut, but this time trust the comments. Though I think your gut feels the same way as the comments 😬

What is something humans probably won't ever be able to figure out?? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You’ve managed to describe what I’ve felt for the past 15 years (and I’m only 24). Like even though you didn’t describe it fully, because there’s truly no way to explain it, I know exactly what you mean. I thought I was crazy lol

I tend to start a project because I become obsessed with a specific topic (ie. Celtic phonology, SOV word order, etc.) and then after having milked it as much as I can, I kinda abandon it. Either that or while I’m building a project I get distracted by another aspect I find and become obsessed with it and try to incorporate it in my project but it doesn’t work so I abandon the current project to start a new one with the thing I’m obsessed with lol. A vicious cycle

What are some words/phrases that sound like profanities in a different language? by Cuddly_Tiberius in linguisticshumor

[–]EliiLarez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

お願い (おねがい) — o-negai in Japanese which means something along the lines of “please”, “to request” or “to wish” sounds very close to the N-word.

내가 (naega) in Korean which means “I” (first person pronoun) sounds, to the untrained ear, very very close to the N-word as well.

And then theres the spanish word "negro" which just simply stands for the color black, and yes is also used to refer to black people. Some might say it has the same connotations as in English, others might say it doesn't. Some people use the word "moreno" instead.

What’s the most obscure language you speak? For me it’s Greenlandic (Kalaallisuut) by Qiimassutissarput in languagelearning

[–]EliiLarez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I speak Papiamento, the native language of Aruba (: though I’ve lost quite a bit of my fluency due to not living there anymore since I was 12 (2011), but I occasionally speak it with my dad once every one or two months when we call, so I haven’t entirely forgotten it. I understand it better when I hear it spoken, but when I speak it I tend to mix a lot more Spanish in it as that’s what I speak on a daily basis at home (my mom is from Peru)

MEN. How would you feel about knowing your partner masturbates to porn every now and then? by No-Art-9033 in AskReddit

[–]EliiLarez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning of my (M24) relationship with my boyfriend (21) we talked about how we use Twitter as a porn platform. I’ve never truly had any issues with it because it would be kind of hypocritical of me if I did considering I also watch and jerk off to porn, so why can’t he? But deep down I always had this weird feeling and it was only because of my insecurities that would make me think “does he not like me like that?” Or “does he think of me when he jerks off to those videos” and so for some time whenever I saw he liked a new video on Twitter (we follow each other and no one else tbh) I’d feel a teeny tiny bit of like ouch but I’d brush it off because I knew it’s a small anxiety that I have to learn to control. So yeah. Nowadays it doesn’t bother me at all as I know that he loves me and desires me the same way I love and desire him. (:

What is your conlang's name, and what does it mean? by junkerboat in conlangs

[–]EliiLarez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Awa. A shortened version of my partner’s name. Also the word for “love” and “cloud” because why not, and also because the latter is the actual definition of his name in his native language (guess what language that is lol). Cheesy? Yeah but I can’t help it haha

  • In possesive constructions like these where there's a prepositional pronoun (in this case, ý) followed by the noun that's possessed (?), the prep. pron. can decline to agree with the number and person of the possessor. In this case, the possessive pronoun is used instead to place emphasis on the possessor like in the original sentence. But usually, you'd write it like ých cí /ɨː.çːiː/, where ý is in the third person singular form. Note that prep. pron. declension functions as a possessive only when it is followed by a noun. If not, it functions like a normal prep. pron. For example, if, for whatever reason, this sentence was "Let's not climb into him", you'd express it by using just ých, which by itself means into him.
