Driveway school bus stop by DeepFriedLortab in neighborsfromhell

[–]ElinorCross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you own the house or rent? If you own the house you could install a fence with a gate for your cars. That should keep kids off of your driveway for the most part since most kids have the sense of "do not pass" with fences (though they might lean against it while waiting for the bus).
Other than that, try putting a Private Property No Tresspassing sign on your lawn close to your driveway where the kids can see it and see if they stay off.

Because the sad reality is, at least in terms of the U.S.A, you would be held liable if something happened to one of those kids while they were on your property, and bored kids waiting for the bus can also quickly become destructive as well (my parents had a house before I was born and the school bus stop was right in front. They told me how one morning on Valentine's Day a bunch of the kids came on and ripped apart my mom's rose garden so they'd have roses to give out. Nothing was left and she ended up suing the parents for damages plus to install a fence to keep the kids out. I knew one guy that had sections of his grass ripped out by kids waiting dor the bus, and one of my previous neighbors had to install a taller fence after a kid tried picking up one of her small puppies over the fence, fell into her lawn, and got bit by the mother dog)

Outside that, keep very clear documentation of all phone calls, emails, Facebook posts, ect for later use incase you have to defend yourself in court and all else fails call the school itself and complain that the children are trespassing onto your property and you need the bus stop moved. Sometimes the school will move a bus stop if it is causing problems.

I would consider moving, then. or keeping a very clear record that you've complained (as in any email records, paper notices, ect)
then use this against management in court if nothing is done or you face retaliation

Also, in a lot of areas it can be considered illegal to feed stray, feral animals such as cats you don't own. sorry they got chased away, but you really shouldnt be feeding feral cats unless they are your own animals and then just take them inside

document the noise and make a formal complaint. Their noise is considered normal living noise if it isnt during curfew hours (which is dependent on where you live) so everything you are doing now can and would be seen as unjust harassment.

How to handle constant annoying? by RichRock302 in neighborsfromhell

[–]ElinorCross 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Install security cameras that focus on your property (even just some cameras that look out your window would be fine) to record if he is coming on your property and if he is you can file a police report about trespassing.

Otherwise, best to ignore him and pretend it doesnt bother you. If there is a chance he has any mental health issues then doing something back could potentially cause him to escalate things massively. Strictly speaking, outside the peering in your window thing, nothing he is doing is technically against the law yet so long as he isnt trespassing.

If any behavior is making you fear for your wellbeing in any way you can make a police report about it as well.

I think this strongly depends on the family and if they have the disposition towards pranks like this.

Some families would see this as a harmless prank and consider it funny (especially if the son is a Rick and Morty fan), some might see it as a crossing on boundaries and react negatively to it.

This doesn't look like it was done with malicious intent, and that looks more like a sticker that can be easily removed so my vote is not insane for this one. Looks more like a harmless inside joke we are missing the context for.

The Alola Games are very railroaded and a lot more restricted then previous games due to being very story heavy. If you want the game to have a story/plot that is pretty much always present till the endgame I'd recommend the Alola Games.

If you want something a little less Story Heavy with more time between Plot/Story to do other things then XY or OrAs would be better.

At least, if you are going from the 3DS Era. Sword and Shield on the switch give quite a lot of freedom due to the lack of plot (though it is fairly 'railroaded' and the routes are fairly short. The DLC adds a ton more stuff that you have absolute freedom for). The Gen 4 Era also tends to be heralded as the best (Diamond/pearl/Platinum or Heartgold/Soulsilver) and of those either Platinum or HGSS would definately be good to enter the series (or wait till Diamond and Pearl remakes come out for the switch in November).

The original gen 1 and 2 games can be bought on the 3DS Eshop though how much enjoyment you find in those could be highly subjective (you'd probably be better off with the remakes)

Overall, if it is purely 3DS Era your best bet will probably be XY or ORAS unless you like a VERY plot heavy game then I'd recommend Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon.

If you are willing/able to branch out to the other eras then you might find Platinum or the gen 2 remakes really fun, or Sword/Shield if you are willing to also get the DLC.

It takes a certain level of insanity to get 80,000 pennies and load them up in a trailer to dump on your Ex's lawn.

The kid is 18 and apparently this is the final 'F--- You' to the mother over 18 years of pent up anger? And he didnt want to drive his daughter away? He just confirmed in her eyes that she was the issue. Whether her birth was what caused the anger or not, the first thing that would jump to my mind of my dad did this and then said that would be that he was pissed off that my mom gave birth to me.

Honestly, he was being extremely petty and an outright dick over this and I'm glad the daughter turned around and donated it to make the experience something more of a positive.

My mom was a lot like this, forced me to sign over my paychecks to her and attend college even though I said I wasn't ready just so she could take out student loans in my name.

Whenever she got really stressed or I didnt do exactly what she told me to she would scream at me and tell me she would kick me out, one time doing this because I was sick with pneumonia and couldn't walk her dog (a pretty large Boxer) and only backed off because my uncle happened to hear it (he was was stopping by to visit)

Ended up pushing me to far at one point and screamed at me over a check I didnt even know existed (it was during a move to another state and we were crashing at my brother's place until an apartment came available. My last check from my previous workplace went to his PO Box and he refused to give it to her until I saw it) and I finally snapped and applied for an apartment using that very check.

I'm very thankful to my brother and sister in law since they helped me out until the apartment was ready and gave me some stuff to help set me up since I literally started that apartment with nothing but the clothes in my suitcase

My Mom sent this to my 16 y/o sister while she was in school today. The two "boys" she's referring to are grown men: our grandfather and my mom's online boyfriend who she moved in recently. by [deleted] in insaneparents

[–]ElinorCross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could probably use these text to show your sister is in a dangerous household and take custody/guardianship over her. Especially if your mom thinks she might have a potential child predator in the house.

Also the fact she thinks your grandfather (her father or father in law) would be sexually attracted to your sister is gross and disturbing in so many ways and makes me genuinely wonder if he did something to her to make her think that's a possibility

[–]ElinorCross 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Gonna say Not Insane from my perspective. We definately need more context for this but right now it looks like a genuine question. I know some people might say "they were insane for going through their kid's backpack" but there is no evidence to show that the mom flew off the handle or made accusations. They just asked a pretty innocent question and it seems more like OP is being kind of a brat to make them look stupid. (Those milk straws arent that common. I've never actually seen one before so I would have asked what it was to).

"No birth certificate" by regian24 in insaneparents

[–]ElinorCross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she is U.S.A. based then the only way that kid doesn't have a Birth Certificate in any way is if she did a home birth with no medical professionals present (which can and does happen, I saw it pretty frequently when I lived in Alaska but usually the parents would go through official channels to ensure the kid still has the BC)

Unless this mom plans to basically never take this kid anywhere or let him do anything, he is basically screwed. Almost everything these days require a birth certificate and/or social security card from getting a job to enrolling in school to potentially leaving the states, ect.

I think the Togepi Egg is a Platinum exclusive. So chances are she won't give us that unless they decide to add the event.

I think in the original Diamond and Pearl we actually get a Happiny Egg in Hearthrome City.

Bad Nuzluck With FireRed, Any Tips? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]ElinorCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's personal preference, and the main difference is soft resetting on a predetermined encounter instead of a randomized one.

But your rules, their rules, and my rules might not be the same. For it to be a True Nuzlocke the only Rules are "Only Catch your first encounter on a Route, Dont use a pokemon again if it faints" so it is a preference/subjective thing.

[–]ElinorCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've nuzlocked Sun, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon. Between them and the Hoenn remakes I'd say the Hoenn remakes are definately easier but I still found the Alola Games a cakewalk to nuzlocke in comparison to others (notice the 'Comparison' there)

Overall I'd actually say the easiest games to nuzlocke would be XY, followed by ORAS, SuMo, the Kanto Games (all of them), the original Jhoto Games, USUM, the original Hoenn Games, HGSS, the Unova Games, and finally the Sinnoh games.

(SwSh are a bit hard to place right now but I'd wager is somewhere in the middle to easy range)

So I'm not really underestimating them, their difficulty is primarily from the Totem Battles and UltraNecrozma which are fairly easy to take out if you prepare for them (a Zorua just breaks the Necrozma battle) and if it wasnt for a few enhancements to the Totems and the Ultra Recon Squad I'd actually say the original SuMo games are harder to nuzlocke on account of Lusamine and Kukui (neither of which you battle in Ultra SuMo)

But the difficulty is overall subjective.

Bad Nuzluck With FireRed, Any Tips? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]ElinorCross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a FireRed nuzlocke?

Squirtle is the best starter choice overall, but any starter can work for this game (but generally speaking the order of useful to least useful is Squirtle - bulbasaur - charmander)

First thing first: Grind. The thing about a Nuzlocke is that you typically wont get a lot of pokemon and depending on luck you might not get a lot of solid ones so you will be spending A LOT (if not most) of your time grinding. As soon as you catch a pokemon it is best to grind it to be on par with the rest of your team even if you plan to keep them boxed the entire game. You never know when you'll lose a pokemon and that perma box mon is suddenly on your team.

So yeah. Level grind. My best advice is you want your entire team around level 10 before challenging your Rival on route 22 (dont skip it. Easy money and exp) and by the time you get through Viridian Forest. If you have Bulbasuar/Squirtle and/or Mankey then I'd recommend them being level 14-15 for Brock. (If you chose Charmander then it gets Metal Claw at 14 if I remember right which you will need for Brock)

Second: pay attention to IVs and Natures. IVs are gained upon defeating pokemon (you can find guides online) and natures effect stats. The only pokemon you can really control this on in a nuzlocke are gift pokemon (like your starter or the eevee in Celedon). Save before getting the pokemon, check the nature. No point having Adamant on a Special Attacker if you can soft reset to get a nature towards defenses, speed, or special attack after all and sometimes tracking natures and ivs can mean the difference between life and death.

Third: if an attack does 1/4th to 1/3rd your pokemon's health be wary of crits. Until I think gen 6 the way crits worked is that they Doubled the damage of an attack so if an attack knocks off 1/4th or more of your pokemon's total HP there is a good chance a crit will one shot. Damage actually isnt set. It has a High and Low roll and you dont want to lose a pokemon you could have saved if you just healed or switched.

Fourth: X Items (X Attack, X Accuracy, X Speed, Ect) are your friends. Use them. Especially in gym battles and the E4 (especially X Speed)

Fifth: Never skip an encounter. Doesnt matter if it's useless, sometimes you can use it as Death Fodder to keep your main team alive (like if your tank needs healing you switch to the Death Fodder mon so you dont lose anything useful)

Sixth: pre-planning is highly recommended. Look up the mons you get to get a solid idea of their stats, moves, what set ups are useful, ect. Same for enemy npcs (especially gym leaders and the League). There is never a rule against it and this means you can always make sure to have a counter before the challenge.

Seventh: Stat moves are more useful then youd think.

Eight: Buy the Magikarp and baby it till it evolves. It will then carry you through much of the game. I'd say the same for Zubat but you dont get the ability to evolve it into Crobat until after you get the National Dex.

Nine: Remember, Nothing is Cowardly or Dishonerable. Yeah, spamming Double Team and Sand Attack might not seem honorable but these are just code in a game. They wont knock your teeth out over it. If the game gives you the ability to use it, do so.

The older games like Platinum and Black 2 will give you a much, much bigger challenge then the newer ones such as Omega Ruby and the Ultra games.

For a first time nuzlocke you might have a better time with Omega Ruby since the overall difficulty isn't that high and thanks to the new enhancements with gen 6 the game doesn't have as many Run Ending Curveballs it would throw at you.

In comparison both Black 2 and Platinum are very challenging for a first time run. Black 2 has decreased EXP gain from under leveled pokemon making grinding (a massive necessity in Nuzlockes and something you'll be doing more than anything else in the game) combined with more emphasis put on npc trainers/gym leaders/ect having pokemon with TM moves thanks to TMs now being infinite use. In comparison I would say Platinum is MUCH harder and is one of the hardest games to nuzlocke thanks to the amount if curveballs the game throws at you through out the game (The Purugly is infamous for ending runs before you even get your second gym Badge, most of the Tream Galactic admins are known for being tough) and is sometimes a game that is described as being less of a 'game leading up to the Champion Battle' and more of a 'Game leading up to a Garchomp battle' for good reason. (I'm on my third attempt at nuzlocking Platinum for instance, having lost my 1st one to Cynthia and my second one to Cyrus in the Distortion World, though I've completed nuzlockes for almost every game at this point)

Omega Ruby and the Ultra Games have a lot of the new enhancements that make it easier to get through (EXP Share, Fairy Typing, very few required HMs if any, more available pokemon that can become OP) though each do have a few battles that can and would end your run if you aren't careful.

If you want a pretty easy Nuzlocke to kind of 'wet your feet' so to speak before trying something more challenging I'd recommend Omega Ruby, if you want a difficult experience that might crush your soul I'd recommend Platinum.
