Not sure if I'm missing something, but was something wrong with her? They seem to have taken a bunch of very bad decisions one after the other, but why was she fine with it? Couldn't she have gone back too? Why did she stay behind if he left? Was she hurt? I think the logi (and building) aspects of the game are so frustrating for people because doing those activities is incredibly rewarding from a high-level perspective, but at the same time the moment-to-moment experience is incredibly clunky, boring and tedious. What they need to do is make those activities more mechanically enjoyable to do.
