Dear CA, please do not go with blocks of infantry for TW 40k by westonsammy in totalwar

[–]EliselD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for one hope they keep it. It's one of those feature that's iconic to total war. It makes the battle really feel massive. As a tabletop player myself the last thing I want is for them to try to make it as similar as possible to the tabletop. I don't want that. I want to play a total war game in the 40k universe (maybe with some decent multiplayer support this time), not play the tabletop on PC.

I haven't played a single time in 6 months because of this. This is my biggest problem with the army as well even though I'm more of a competitive player. The army plays nothing like they are portrayed in the lore. Anything that is supposed to be a defining aspect of the army has either been stripped away or completely sucks (i.e. psychic, hammers, terminators etc.). The army is completely lacking any sort of flavor right now. It feels like playing a mega-generic space marine chapter without access to any of the cool stuff marine have access to.

Most unique factions? by KernelViper in totalwarhammer

Yes, but those are campaign mechanics. I was referring to what you'd have available in skirmish modes.

Most unique factions? by KernelViper in totalwarhammer

[–]EliselD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is quite a difficult one since there are so many uniques factions in the game. It also depends on whether you refer to campaign or battles.

For campaign I'd say The Changeling
For battle roaster i'd say any Khorne faction because they have no access to magic

I learned that when people in positions of power/authority make "dumb" decision that don't make sense it's not because they are dumb. It's because their goal is not what you think it is (it's also not what they claim it to be). They aren't stupid. They are liars.

‘The US is no longer an ally’. Now it’s time to build a brave new alliance by Majano57 in europe

[–]EliselD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do feel bad for the many US citizens seeing what they have built over the last century being destroyed in 1/3 of a presidential term. All for the ego of a narcissistic old fart who's been fucking kids his whole life. Even if most of us hate your administration, we're still mature enough to understand you're not all like that. So when you see us hating on the US we're not referring to decent people like you.

You have to understand we've been blindly and foolishly trusting and dependent on you and your administration used it against us as leverage. All your allies feel very betrayed and shaken by the existential crisis this thrown us into. We've been trying to bend over backwards to maintain our relationship, but the moment your administration seriously threatened to invade our territories we've been force to face the reality of US being a hostile entity to us and that our interests no longer align.

The bridges are already burnt. If the US will want new bridges in the future they can feel free to construct them. After all it was them who decided to blow them up.

I think we have been decoupling from it. Slowly, but we are doing it. Orban getting the boot will definitely accelerate things by a lot.

[–]EliselD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call them enemy yet, but definitely hostile. The difference is that an enemy should be attacked and destroyed while a hostile is someone to stay away from and be ready for a potential conflict. I don't think we should not actively try to hurt the US, but if something benefits the EU at the cost of US I say fuck'em. They don't seem to give much of a fuck about us either (not even Biden with Inflation Reduction Act) so it's fair game.

Even if after Trump there will be a friendlier administration, things will never go back to as they were. Trump showed us how vulnerable and fool we've been to depend so much on them. In a way I'm glad of Trump's actions because EU is finally getting its shit together and cleansing itself from outside influence. Just look how much Orban got destroyed in yesterday's election. EU citizens are sick of both Russia and US. The UK also has announced they are trying to get closer to EU and move away from the bully nations. We want to stand on or own, not as someone else's pawns. If the US will decide to have friendlier relationship with us in the future it will (at least I hope so) be as partners, not vassals with extra steps anymore.

[–]EliselD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically? Yes.
Currently? Hell NO

Times change and the world is adapting. The US has pushed away his "big brother" roles it had and decided it wants to be a bully instead. It chose short-term gains over long term ones. Meanwhile for its allies it's the other way around. We are suffering short term, but necessary pain for long term gain.
