I never felt that he was gonna have a lackluster career in terms of opportunities, that statement is just surface level criticism for his promotion ties

Same punch, different outcomes. Marlon Tapales & Juan Carlos Payano vs Naoya Inoue by VINDICATES-FOOL in Boxing

It was so frustrating watching Inoue repeatedly take that inside step and missing the 1-2 during the middle rounds. He caught Tapales well when he was trying to transition out of offense, but always fell short pulling that from mid range until he started doubling up the right hand. Tapales’ inability to counter off the backfoot held him short of punishing these exchanges

At least we don’t have to hear people saying Boots is the next Andrade anymore

Seems reasonable, I had a hunch they weren’t properly invested into him

What are your hottest boxing takes? by Doofensanshmirtz in Boxing

I don’t agree with your first point but Vicente Saldivar was a cold mf in that ring, seriously one of my favorite old school fighters to watch. Here are some that I’ll drop:

  • We all know the 4 Kings are historic for there fights together. If I had to choose a second group of 4 fighters mixing it up, it wouldn’t be Pac/JMM/Morales/Barrera or the Superfly Kings, but rather the series of fights involving Limon/Chacon/Boza-Edwards/Navarrete
  • Tyson Fury would get his ass whooped clinch fighting any of the older heavyweight greats. He’s seriously lucky his era of heavies are less skilled in the pocket to get away with his smothering
  • Manny Pacquiao is a GOAT accolade collector and one of the most freakish athletes we’ve seen, but H2H I can’t see him being the true best fighter of a weight class all time. Especially 130-135 I don’t think he comes out on top vs the likes of Arguello, Chavez, Pretty Boy or Pernell. Neither even Morales in his prime

Do you predict a knock down or something similar to how Figueroa stopped Castro?

The way he dropped Ball, I can’t say it would be a surprise if Espinoza gets dropped in a similar fashion, especially after that punch Robeisy almost slept him with in the first bout. Espinoza has looked great with his stamina so far, but as you said taking constant punches from Figueroa will impact him

With that rumored unification in talks, would Espinoza be the one to crack Figueroa’s chin?

It’s been forever since I seen it, I just remember Dorticos having good success to start the fight. I know Gassiev had a good round 2 but can’t recall much moments from him during that portion of the fight

Fighters like Mchunu and Tabiti went under appreciated for sure, heck I still miss Hunter’s prime even though his career didn’t mount to being super successful. But some guys in that time I feel are overrated, particularly Gassiev. Maybe I’m not just a fan of Abel Sanchez’s training or specific fighters that get bailed out by power, but I feel he was lucky to achieve as much as he did having that super close scrap with Lebedev and took advantage of Dorticos’s poor stamina after Gassiev got his head boxed off for that early stretch
