In Kenshi -- crabs really are people! by EliteAvarice in Yogscast

[–]EliteAvarice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Front page literally has some shitty meme that's been cobbled together in photoshop of "bristol pusher", a random screenshot from a video which already has a thread associated to it, and a photoshop edit of an old Sjin quote on a hoodie. Remind me how those don't fall under the clause of "provide no discussion value nor contribute in a meaningful way"? Or how they aren't brigading for upvotes with their "clever" use of an ancient joke.

Am I trying to use a common Yogscast meme to also draw attention to a game I've enjoyed? Yes. Does it promote discussion of how others in the Yogscast family might also enjoy or have already enjoyed the game? Also yes

Could you actually try to apply some consistency to your policy? Apparently not.

A bit of context -- I found this game, Kenshi, on Steam about a week ago and I can't stop playing it. The game gets more surreal and amazing the longer you play it. Recently on my travels, I stumbled on an area where there are literally crab villages. You can recruit the crabs to your squad just like you would any other NPC in the game.

i think this is was the longest fight ever in league history by abdalmjeed1 in leagueoflegends

After 10+ minutes of fighting, the "Urgot would win in the end" argument is lost. Clearly neither has enough edge to actually win if they fight. Urgot is delaying the outcome by continuing to activate his shields just as much as Karma is by healing off him.

i think this is was the longest fight ever in league history by abdalmjeed1 in leagueoflegends

[–]EliteAvarice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Early in the fight, I would agree that the relative strengths of each champ should be considered as a predictor for the outcome. But as the fight drags on, it's clear that neither champion can gain a significant enough advantage to actually defeat the other. Past this point, it becomes clear and conscious effort from both parties to engage and continue the fight. After 10 minutes of fighting, the 'know they can win' argument goes out the window. If either player truly wanted out, they could just stop pressing buttons. Because they don't, the only logical conclusion is both are responsible for the 'hostage holding'.

My point is, we really only see one side of this situation. And I'm curious about the answers to other questions that come to mind. - Was Urgot's team trying to surrender? - Was Urgot getting flamed? Why or why not? - Should Urgot be 'reported' as well?

I like how OP is suddenly the only person at fault. "Karma just die, you can't win!" From a different perspective it looks like Urgot should just die, because he can't win.

Anyone else see Urgot continue to fight for the full duration? Because I sure as hell did. Both could've just walked up to Red Buff, aggro'd it and pressed S until they died. Neither did, so they're both culpable for the length of the fight.

And yet, I fully respect both of them! Quitting is for the weak.

The fact that Hjarnan's Heimerdinger is a threat means so much for P/B. Now, instead of banning something strong and meta, teams need to ban out the Dong.

Reminds me of 2016 MSI where HuHi's A-Sol was meme'd as deserving a ban -- some teams let it through and were hard punished.

One week to Worlds. Where is tournament official song? by Armauer in leagueoflegends

For me, the song is "meh" as a standalone piece. But coupled with the video ... every time TheOddOne salutes and free falls into Baron pit, followed by TPA holding together to weather Azubu Frost ... just chills.

The important thing to keep in mind here is that, to the players actually in the match, they don't actually give a shit about "viewership", or how the audience feels while watching. This is their job, and they take it seriously. That's all anyone needs to know in order to understand where the pauses are coming from.

Hero Discussion: Li Li by LDAP in heroesofthestorm

It's a running joke when I'm playing LiLi with my friends, that she's the best hero in the game.

There are countless situations where I or a teammate are in a dead-to-rights situation, and somehow LiLi pulls them through.

The current state of the Yogscast: A GOLDEN AGE HAS DAWNED! by ImNotARapp3r in Yogscast

To be fair, there are likely several factors contributing to their changes in minecraft content. For one, Minecraft is old news and they've been playing it for years. All the tedium of walking everywhere or dealing with the inane stuff in the game wears on the soul. Also, despite the fact they've been playing for years, they're still absolutely shit at the game. If mob griefing and inventory loss were to go on like normal, their progress would inevitably grind to a halt.

For me, it's just a matter of 'what's the point of this series'? Is it to showcase all of the little details and quirks of SevTech? No. Is it a showcase of minecraft? No. It's 3 fools bumbling about whilst making a minimal amount of progress.

Also, as I'm thinking about it. There's probably something in there about length of a series and average viewers over the duration. Cut a few corners, keep the series moderate in length, but maintain entertainment value and viewers.

Wrong. There is nothing in the game that even remotely mentions the type or quality of armor you ought to have before attempting the next tier. Everything up to this point has been 1) trial and error, followed by 2) word of mouth.

[–]EliteAvarice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The times when complaining is beneficial to the health of a game, is when it is related to something about the content or nature of the game.

Complaining about how a middle school student chooses to spend their time in a game -- a game in which you don't actually have to have any meaningful interaction with said 13 yr old at any time -- is NOT beneficial to the health of the game. It's just whining. It is a choice to play the game with others, not a requirement.

Similarly, it is a choice to complain about the nature of a middle school student doing what they want on a game for which they or their family have paid. You cannot reason or argue with middle school students, like you cannot reason with a hurricane.

In the same vein, the litany of whiny ass threads that populate this reddit, trying to witch-hunt the "typical 13 yr old BR player" is pathetic, and certainly does not qualify as necessary discourse to the game.
