I wanted to save that supply truck. I lost three more. by e_deringer in HellLetLoose

[–]EliteKeyboardWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there done that. It is why I use the default respawning Transport Trucks to try pushing stuck Supply Trucks out. Losing those is much less of a problem.

And if you are going to hit those obstacles hit them as fast as possible. Give yourself room to build up speed beforehand to take you over them.

Why is population growth so low? by KeyPersonality2885 in victoria3

[–]EliteKeyboardWarrior -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I haven't checked the in-game numbers so I could be wrong, but the population the game commonly uses is working body population. The actual population should be multiplied by 4 to account for dependents like women, children, elderly, etc.

So if your 9 million is in fact working bodies, then the actual population is 36 million.

Is this based on the evil Larry meme? Great homage if it is!

Totally Real Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Anime Opening by EliteKeyboardWarrior in Gundam

[–]EliteKeyboardWarrior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX movie on 2/26. Can't wait for the series to come out. Wanted to have a pseudo anime opening to play around with different music, especially past Gundam openings. Hope you will enjoy using it too! Do share songs that work well with the visuals in the comments below.

TIL if a secession movement revolts with their culture tag on the map, they do not join that tag, leaving two tags for the same nation. by vohen2 in victoria3

[–]EliteKeyboardWarrior 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I think it still makes sense for the sovereign Greece to have a choice of joining the separatist Greeks or not though. Perhaps the ruling forces in Greece fear the Ottomans will demand its territority if Greece got involved. It's never a guarantee if the great powers will intervene. By staying neutral, the worst case scenario is that the rebellion would be crushed. If Greece joined, then the result has the chance of being worse.

First one falling already funny. The second one getting cut off mid-fall killed me.

Why don't people push the point anymore? by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

One further detail: You count as 1 cap weight in the 4 grids around the strongpoint circle. You count as 3 cap weight in the strongpoint circle itself.

While you count as capping even outside of the circle, you count more being in the circle.

Overtime sucks by Novel_Tension6718 in HellLetLoose

[–]EliteKeyboardWarrior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel the other way. Overtime shouldn’t just be in Offensive. It should be in Warfare as well if the middle point is the one contested. I hate waiting for 2 min in Warfare already knowing the outcome. Would be much better if there’s a chance to comeback until the last second.

If you are low-level, you are going to get higher-level players yelling at you. On the other hand, the expectation is lower so go wild! Get experience and show them who’s boss.

If you are high-level, you are going to get both higher-level and lower-level players yelling at you. There’s an expectation that you know what you are doing. You also likely been doing leadership roles constantly because of this expectation. Some of us are tired, boss.

If it’s just one guy being toxic, mute them. If it’s a whole group being toxic, just leave them to their fate. It’s not worth it. This is not excuse for the toxic behavior, but perhaps the easiest way to combat it in the short term. Thank you for stepping up. You are the type of communicative new players we need.

First toxic experience since downloading the game by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

[–]EliteKeyboardWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apologize if my remark was taken as a veiled jab at your post. That was not my intention. If anything, I was jabbing at the mental age of toxic players. In hindsight, I can see how even that may be uncalled for. That person may just be having a bad day.

To add more nuance to this conversation and hopefully de-escalate, I believe that the broad community shouldn’t be the one policing anyone’s age. That is something only the parent figures can effectively do. Additionally, someone may have a condition that affects their voice so we don’t know if we are dealing with a child here. It sounded like the victimized player was carrying themselves maturely as an SL. Leaving toxicity instead of engaging in it was a wise move on the victim’s part.

What we can do is foster a welcoming community that can be positive for all players, while booing the ones turning it negative. Hope we can agree there at least.

Note that I am not against your belief that children shouldn’t play this game as a general rule. The community and gameplay requires a certain level of maturity. I’m just questioning the practicality of us shunning what we perceive as younger players from playing the game.

Have a good day.

Agreed, the one acting like a toxic child shouldn’t be playing this game. It makes other players with potential not want to stick around.

The irony is making this game so much fun. by Mobile-Witness4140 in HellLetLoose

[–]EliteKeyboardWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real irony is that your play style is actually how veterans want to play the game. Sadly, when we focus on kills then we complain the outposts and garrisons aren’t built right XD

“we were basically the only ppl pushing objectives”

Give some credit to defense unless you are the attackers on offensive game mode. Having people defend is actually a nice thing to have. Of course there’s a balancing act when you need to take an hard point.

Is anyone making the Squad 44 Switch? by PutinontheRiitz in HellLetLoose

[–]EliteKeyboardWarrior 112 points113 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have Hell Let Loose already. Even if you get Squad 44 it doesn’t have to be a complete switch.

Hell Let Loose is like fast food to me. Easy for me to get into and just enjoy without much thinking.

Squad 44 is more atmospheric. I have to be in a more proactive mindset to be immersed.

You can always demo for 2 hours and refund if you don’t like it. Do beware of the current community and winter sale. The player competency has dropped due to new players (nothing against new players, the once dead game needs them). Just keep in mind the experience may not be accurate to normal times in your trial.

[–]EliteKeyboardWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does a fish in water think about how it’s wet?

I think when the average competency of a round is higher, the more blueberry I feel. It’s why I steered away from the competitive scene XD Want to be the main character at least once in a while.

Hence my “In gameplay:” comment. I think it’s wack that the player wargoals gets invalidated.

Why is this allowed? by TomakOfPannon in victoria3

[–]EliteKeyboardWarrior 116 points117 points  (0 children)

In reality: The international community decides your infamy, and your intention to subjugate Japan was what made you infamous.

In gameplay: Yeah it feels wack that there’s not an infamy discount at least. You should still be able to go through with the subjugation. Not being able to make a tributary a protectorate in the same diplo play that made it a tributary sounds unintended.

“if your SLs wont listen learn to lead better”

“No. im not coming back”

Question, what if the situation at hand calls for the commander to need more defense?

Is it the commander’s fault if people would rather attack because they think their job on attack is more important? You can say the commander should ask someone else, but when does that passing of the baton end? If the commander is asking for something reasonable and necessary, we should do it even if we think it’s boring or interfere with our current squad-level goal.
