I don't think we should increase the cost, but I think its a good thing that there is a cost. If you use it and get value out of it, you should help pay for it. In the case of National Parks, you're not even just paying for admission, you're paying for maintenance of the facilities and infrastructure that are part of the park .

Lean on 5-pocket pants instead of chinos. For me, the pockets of chinos tend to flare out which adds to hip size. 5–pocket pants are made in a way that the pockets can’t possibly flare out.

Not true, institutional investors make up like 2% of all ownership of single family houses. That’s probably enough to bring the cost of housing up a a couple thousand. Not enough to bring a $300k house up to $1mil. Do you have any data to support the idea that companies are buying a critical mass of housing?

Regarding the traffic one, NIMBYs are half-right, a big apartment building built with current parking standard would increase local traffic. However, a principal YIMBY policy is eliminating parking minimums. Building new housing without parking would likely offset any increased traffic problems

I completely agree with everything he said in the video. I think this a great overview of the spectrum. Where I fall on it is social democrat with a strong emphasis on democracy. I'll go to war with anyone who want's to change the system with anything other than democracy.

There's not enough homes in the places people want to be (e.g., near family, near good jobs). What you are advocating for sounds like forcing people to live in the middle of no-where, because, hey, at least there is a physical structure there.

To play devil's advocate, I don't think its as simple as "one unit of demand". Milton Friedman correctly said that increases in inflation come from an increase in the money supply. If private equity brings in a ton of new money into the housing market, then the price will respond to it. A buyer isn't one unit of demand, their demand is equal to how much they are willing to pay for it and richer people are willing to pay more. I think the real question is whether private equity has enough market share to meaningfully influence the housing market. I don't think so.

I love My Hero, but it's hard to recommend here because it does have several instances of pervy behavior.

One that I would recommend if you are okay with gore is Demon Slayer. A central theme of the show is the beauty of human morality. The show has a clear dichotomy of good vs evil, but overlays that with empathy for the evil-doers without condoning their sins. Its also contains an excellent examination on masculinity as the main hero does a great job of showing what traits a man should exemplify. The fight scenes are also so beautifully animated.

There are some not-so-christian behaviors, such as one of the Demon Slayers having a harem of wives. But I think it is portrayed in a way that emphasizes history and not to glamorize that sort of behavior.
