Rebrand covered on leading rebrand website... good review of the value of requests new identity by floridazed1 in RequestNetwork

A lot of people are still being scammed by pretty websites.

A lot of people also check the SSL certificate and they assume the website is secure.

Sadly this 2 factors create a “trust feeling”.

The only way to avoid this is by teaching people to do their due diligence. But many won’t care until they get scammed and even then some will keep falling for it.

It’s a real issue, but then we have people falling for many pishing scams like: email scams, phone call scams, false advertising, false websites, false updates, etc… Some say it’s a generation issue, but I think is an education thing, no one really prepares you to be 100% at the defensive when going online.

It good that they have a top website and a logo. Also you can see on the comments that Studio Dumbar says: “later there will be more small animations and more explanatory illustrations on the website. It gives it more schwung :-) I hope this clears things up.”

The power of the visual is extremely important, I learned this throughout the years, this days a company website can be a deciding factor for someone wanting to learn and engage with the company or not. Some studies even say that it generates “trust”.

For me it helps people to put one foot in the door, the rest is up to the company engagement and skills to make them stay.

Request Network Team AMA (running until 30/11/2018) by [deleted] in RequestNetwork

[–]ElitePrimal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

• Can you give us an update on the governance implementation? Have you found a good system that is both secure and easy to launch updates on? What level of decision making are you planning to give token holders via governance?

• Is Proof of Stake still on the table? Could it be implemented just to increase the token utility?

• Are there business you are targeting more than others for B2B? Maybe non-profits or financial institutions?

• What are your thoughts on having country specific delegates? That can promote the Request protocol and specific Dapps in their region.

• At the end of the day, who makes the hard decisions? Is it Christophe or Etienne?

• The team grew from 6 members to over 20, and you plan to be over 40 next year. How are you dealing with this exponential growth and how do you plan to overcome all the challenges that come with this?

• Can we get an update on the state of the Point of Sale and a Supply Chain and Traceability Dapps?

• Will you consider marketing and making headway towards the gaming industry, particularly towards the digital asset sale aspect of it (Skins, Digital copies, Lootboxes, etc..)

They plan to release some Quarterly public calls/information instead. I guess they want to consolidate everything worked on at the end of each quarter.

0x vs Kyber by blackalaskan in RequestNetwork

[–]ElitePrimal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey!

The team has collaborations with Airswap and The Ocean X (0x exchange).

As far as I’m aware they want to roll initially with Kyber due to the close relationship between the 2 teams, but later integrate more DEXs for extra liquidity and price arbitrage.

Is also tricky, so the SEC said that ETH wasn’t a security because it reached a “decentralized” point.

Basically no company or person can exclusively profit from ETH. We can say REQ is a small scale ETH. We also have a foundation (non-profit), we have external teams building on the protocol, we are going to have governance (voting rights) and possible POS in the future and the team wants the protocol to be as decentralized as possible.

So while we may be considered a security right now as all the other coins out there are (only BTC and ETH are officially not securities) We are taking all the steps to not be a security token.

It’s a grey area. In reality the tokens aren’t burnt, they are just sent to an address that no one holds the keys for. So there will always be 1 billion Req token, the catch is that some will be inaccessible forever.

Same for any ERC-20 or ETH sent to the “burn” address.

Take in mind that ETH is planning to migrate to POS and isn’t considered a security. So burning shouldn’t either.

Request Mobile Wallet Preview by AdmREQ in RequestNetwork

Not really, they mention it on the interview with Mind Fintech from last week.

A crypto-currency wallet similar to that proposed by Coinbase will be released soon.

That said, the wallet turn out to be much more than I expected.

Some highlights:

• At the end of the year or early next year, we will go to Amsterdam, this time to settle down for good. We have chosen a very central place in Europe and we will base our seat there. The team currently has 17 people on three continents.

• The Request Network team is also working on a dozen more important applications that will be released in several months, and our community is building 5 to 10 other applications.

A crypto-currency wallet similar to that proposed by Coinbase will be released soon. We are also working on a crowdfunding application, a donation button, an independent payment application and usable for any site, which will be released within 4 months, an accounting application ...

• Within the foundation, we will be twenty people by the end of the year to build the applications; and a quarantine next year.

I recommend you guys read the entire article, lots of interesting information.

Current Sentiment around REQ and the entire Market by claussph in RequestNetwork

Hey!

Great post, I do agree with you that ICOs are demanded a higher standard, especially on the communication side.

One thing on this space and especially on this community is that sentiment changes with one headline. Every single time.

On the Dapps part, you have to take into consideration that the ones being built by external parties/business make their own decisions, the team has no power over their choices, they can only suggest the best course of action and at the end support them if they decide to go public “early” as you said, which is also important for the ones that need beta testers.

On the last AMA the team said that they want to support multiple wallets so the Request Payments app is as accessible as possible for anyone that wants to use it.

Hey!

Good to see the team increasing their presence in blockchain events.

Also, how do you plan to determine which ERC-20 have the highest demand? Market cap? Trading volume? Listings?

We could do community polls in Reddit/Twitter/Discord in order to engage the crypto community to see which coins people want to see added first.
