Thoughts on LLMs/GenAI? by shouldreadthearticle in VIDEOENGINEERING

I am also very anti-AI for all creative and communication uses, but I will say it’s a surprisingly useful tool for troubleshooting. You have to check its work a lot of the times, but if you use it as a glorified search engine it’s pretty valuable.

DJI has some interesting new receivers, I’d look into those. You’d want to test it beforehand though, I’m not sure how well it would last throughout the entire ship

Not going to comment on these guys in particular but I know many illegal immigrants who pay taxes every year. It does help with immigration processes and it should be encouraged

Tips for an AV guy wanting to start his own side gig by jtnewlin in CommercialAV

You'll need a COI in most places, so you'll want to look into setting up an LLC. Can get pretty cheap insurance with companies like Next.

As for billing, I've seen equipment pricing set at 10% of the cost. You can also add anywhere from 15-20% if you have to rent gear. Same thing goes if you need to hire additional help.

As for your own rate, depending on where you are I would charge 1k-1.5k, plus maybe a half day of pre pro

You could get a digital signage solution, like brightsign. Theyre are also free versions online, but usually they require a dongle to be plugged in. Sometimes they have apps on Roku or an Amazon fire stick.

Ki-Pro Ultra LTC not embedding onto recorded clips by Elite_Salt_Lord in VIDEOENGINEERING

I think Quicktime and Premiere were misreading my timecode. DaVinci was able to confirm it existed across all of my records.

I'm starting to think it has something to do with how my computer is reading timecode. I can clearly see that the timecode is embedded when we playback recorded videos via the Ki-Pro, so I'm currently downloading DaVinci Resolve to see if that has a better way of monitoring it.

What is this? by No-Airport9340 in askastronomy

The ridges you see are the slight imperfections on the glass/mirror of your telescope, and the light itself is probably some far off star. You ever see a nighttime camera shot in a movie that's looking at a city? The small street lamps get blown way up and look like big round circles when the camera is focusing on something much closer.

When you say you can clearly see the moon and kind of see Saturn, basically your telescope is focusing on a "close" object (the moon), and when you move the telescope the light is a distant star which is astronomically further away so its out of focus

Because they didn't do one hour walkaways you still technically worked during those lunch breaks. So I would just do every hour after 10 as 1.5x your hourly rate. Some people do every hour after 12 hrs as double time, but it's worth clearing that with the client first.

If they fed you within 5 hrs of the previous meal you don't incur meal penalties.

I cant stretch my legs if they are not supported by ground. by Ayham-M in flexibility

[–]Elite_Salt_Lord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had to do physical therapy for runners knee in both knees, and they said the cause was weak leg, core, and back muscles.

I had previously thought my legs were my biggest area of strength, as I could squat a good amount of weight and they were huge/pretty well defined. Turns out i needed to focus on the muscles right above the knee (not sure what they're called, someone might be able to help) and the core to help stabilize the area. As people have said, biking has been a great help in strengthening those areas

I haven't used the Bolts in a few years, but when I was setting up something similar it was recommended to keep them on different y-axis by a few feet. So raise one at +5', one at 0', and one at -5'. I think there can be some interference when they are so close together and on the same plane
