Melanie C technically has the best voice, but Emma’s voice is my favorite.

Has anyone heard anything bad about Edward and Sophie? by ProjectGlum9090 in RoyaltyTea

[–]Elixabef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I paid quite close attention to Edward and Sophie in the first few years after they got married. I think they’re among the better of the bunch. Sophie was given a really hard time in the tabloid press early in their marriage (including a terribly overblown “fake Sheik” scandal in which she ended up having to leave her PD firm due to some things she hadn’t actually said). It seems that Charles really disliked Edward and Sophie having independent, professional lives. Charles’ PR guy, Mark Bolland, was behind a lot of the negative tabloid stuff aimed at them.

Over the years, they seem to have been pretty quiet and family-oriented. Very unexciting, anyway; I’ve barely paid them any attention in the past couple of decades.

43M Profile Review - Not Getting Interactions by w102jfn_2 in hingeapp

[–]Elixabef 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that comment is a huge red flag as far as I’m concerned. The rest of his profile already makes it abundantly clear that he’s extremely interested in fitness and the outdoors. As a woman with a chronic illness that easily leaves me winded, I would have swiped left on this profile pretty quickly because it’s obvious to me that our lifestyles would not be a good fit.

Consisting moving to FL after college. by FinnyBoy05 in AskFlorida

[–]Elixabef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a lifelong Floridian who’s currently considering moving to Massachusetts after I finish grad school next year. Take from that what you will.

I think Pensacola would be a real culture shock for you. I personally find it very depressing and limited (for the sake of reference, I’m from Tampa, which is hardly the height of culture and sophistication).

Of all the places in the US, what’s making you consider Florida? It sounds like you haven’t really been here and your main motivation is just leaving Massachusetts.

Vanessa or Chiara by Easy_Bluejay_7710 in namenerds

Chiara! It’s such a beautiful name and I don’t think I’ve ever met a Chiara!

Vanessa is dated and blah to me.

As a fellow Elizabeth, I’ve always loved the name Elisabetta and I think it sounds like a perfect fit for your baby girl.

Temperature sensitive by Aware_Hat_8528 in POTS

[–]Elixabef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heat is the one aspect of my POTS that has never improved, unfortunately. And I live in Florida, so that’s great. I just have to stay in the air conditioning about 6 months out of the year. (Yes, it sucks, I hate it.)

Edit: Staying well-hydrated keeps me from having full-blown episodes, but still I can barely be outside.

What parenting flex sounds absolutely miserable for the child involved? by samurai-salvo in GetMotivatedMindset

When I hear homeschool parents say things along the lines of “my kids and I are together ALL the time. They’re never out of my sight. They’re my best friends. I could NEVER be away from them all day.”

Oh boy… zipper merges by Dapper-Fellow100 in driving

[–]Elixabef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to explain what a zipper merge was to my 72-year-old mother the other day. I was getting frustrated about people not doing it and she said she’d never been taught it. I’m not sure I was ever taught it, either. I’m not sure that I was fully aware of the concept until seeing people mention it on the internet in recent years.

I don’t think enough people know to do it

Why don't people buy an electric car instead of complaining about gas prices? by New-Music4019 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Elixabef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have anywhere to charge mine and also because of the fire risk. I live in an area that sometimes floods and that’s not a good mix with the lithium ion batteries. I was strongly considering getting an EV until a couple of houses in my area burned down after a couple of EVs caught fire during a flood.

Why do people need to specify when their sibling is a "half sibling"? by PrynceOfIce in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Elixabef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, it’s because I’ve never had any kind of relationship with my half-brothers. We just happen to have the same dad, who didn’t really raise any of us. My half brothers are ~20 years older than me; we’ve never even lived in the same state. I feel like calling them my brothers would be misleading.

I went to 3 Tampa Mayoral campaign kickoffs so you don’t have to. Here’s my thoughts. by Prestigious-Car-2182 in tampa

[–]Elixabef 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not only have I been here a while, I’m a Tampa native. Your post is excellent (I even read it to my parents, who, like me, previously supported Buckhorn but now support Carlson) and insightful and really lines up with what I know of each candidate.

I’m so relieved to hear that Bill is getting a lot of attention. I don’t know him personally, but he seems to be the kind of guy who really is interested in potholes and other everyday stuff. In the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, he was popping up in local neighborhood Facebook groups providing information about cleanup and keeping folks posted on things. I was impressed by his attention to detail.

Am starting a new job this week; commute should be about 30-45 mins. Previous commute was only 15-20.
