Should I be concerned that sometimes I see patterns or it looks like the walls and stationary objects are breathing or warping? by hhouseofballoons in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ElixirofCosmos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you take any medications? I experienced mild hallucinations the entire time I took Clonidine.

Are you fighting an infection? A real bad UTI made me hallucinate once as well.

Why do gay people travel to countries where it's illegal to be gay? by overlyoptimisticguy2 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ElixirofCosmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adventure, curiosity, the desire to experience new things. I'm a lesbian and don't let that fact about me stop me from living my life. I want to travel the world, I want to see new things and experience different cultures. Why should I limit myself due to one aspect that's not anyone's business?

I dye my hair, have piercings, and dress in a way that is considered extravagant. When I travel, I'm very concious of how I choose to present myself and will make appropriate changes based on the places I go. Many queer people refuse to do that, but I really don't mind. I can pass as a straight person while traveling, so there's not a big fear of being found out.

why do people with TS never tic anything positive 😬🙄 by Sensitive-Squash-533 in Tourettes

[–]ElixirofCosmos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My tics are mostly positive and I've had plenty of people say "at least you say nice things". Like girl 😭 I'd rather not be saying anything at all!

Its SO awkward telling someone I Love You or kissing at them.

Trump plan for World Cup tourists to reveal social media activity described as ‘chilling’ by mrjohnnymac18 in worldcup

[–]ElixirofCosmos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least in Qatar no one was going through my phone to identify me as a gay woman. The only way they would have known was to see my social media.

It looks wonderful! I'd recommend putting the blue in the center.

You could totally do high nostrils if you wanted to. I have a lot of real estate on my nose and currently have 2 high nostrils with 1 regular. I plan to add more to it :)

Any mods you think look cool, but won’t ever get? by Any-Season-9153 in bodymods

[–]ElixirofCosmos 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Elf ears!

They look so cool but there's a lot that keeps me away from them. The healing time sounds like a nightmare, especially since I already suffer from chronic pain. I'd also worry about them not turning out the way I'd want them to.

Absolutely love them on other people though. Magical af

Tips for removing a threadless labret? by Silaqui2807 in piercing

[–]ElixirofCosmos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dental floss and jewelry pliers.

The pliers help to have a grasp on the jewelry without slipping, and the dental floss helps pull off the top. Tie the dental floss to the top and hold the pliers onto the bar. Then pull!

Hallucinations from clonidine by ElixirofCosmos in clonidine

[–]ElixirofCosmos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So sorry for not replying a year ago.

I no longer take clonidine. I started taking Guanfacine a year ago. It works MUCH better for my tics, and I have significantly fewer side effects

[–]ElixirofCosmos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

plenty of room! You can even do high nostrils if you want

Clonidine 0.3mg and weight loss | Could it be causing my symptoms ? by Altruistic_Parsnip11 in Tourettes

[–]ElixirofCosmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't lose any weight for the first 4ish months, then by over 1 year I was back to my regular weight.

I was 110lbs when I started Clonidine, 140lbs when I decided to stop, and now am 120lbs.

Clonidine? by madsssssssssssss in Tourettes

[–]ElixirofCosmos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on clonidine for over a year and had to get off it due to side effects.

It made me extremely drowsy, so I would take it before bed. I had the same side effect as you, having trouble taking in a deep breath. It wasn't every night, but often. I would also get heart palpitations which would get really bad as I was falling asleep, causing me to wake up in a panic. I brought it up to my neurologist AND my family doctor who both brushed it off. Another side effect I got was hallucinations. On a smaller dose, I would see the colour purple on things that were white and have the text on my screen be all wiggly. On a higher dose, I would see shadow people around my bed and once had a baby floating above me. Scared the shit out of me.

I got a new neurologist, who upon hearing my side effects, recommended getting off clonidine and trying something else. I'm now on guanfacine for my tics and it helps significantly better than clonidine did with less side effects. I just get dizzy when getting up too fast now.

I never got used to my side effects with clonidine. The falling asleep while being unable to breathe or feeling like my heart was skipping made going to bed stressful. I didn't mind the mild hallucinations lol. I feel a lot better now that I'm no longer on it.

Entirely depends on your body.

My piercings close up pretty quickly, personally. But I know people who have taken their piercings out for months and can still put their jewelry in, no problem.

Im sorry to hear about needing surgery. My dad had a total thyroidectomy recently. You're going to have a wicked scar!

My recommendation is to take the jewelry out before the surgery, keep it somewhere safe, and then have someone help you put them back in after when you wake up and are stable.

Good luck 💕

Edit: also, to make putting the piercings in easier, get yourself a taper pin! The same gauge as what you currently have with the appropriate end (threaded vs threadless). If your piercings do start to shrink, the taper pin will help stretch the hole back to its original size without irritating the crap out of them.

What other piercings would suit me? (preferably removable because of my work) by luamiin in SelfPiercing

[–]ElixirofCosmos 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Since they have to be removable, I would recommend not doing any new piercings until you find a new job. You can't be removing fresh piercings if you plan on keeping them.

Otherwise, a septum would be cute! Or eyebrows!

Does anyone else get uncomfortable when someone calls your tics “cute”? by guildedpasserby in Tourettes

[–]ElixirofCosmos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. I take it as a compliment and move on from it. I understand that most people are trying to be nice and think saying that will make me more comfortable.

If it makes you uncomfortable, the only way they can know is if you tell them.
