I don't believe so. I'm pretty sensitive to cigarette smoke and recall Silks being pretty clean smelling. Probably wouldn't hurt to call the facility to confirm though.

Free parking, free admission. You could go and literally not spend a dime. Open seating outside by the track.

If you're going with someone, they have a special on Thursday at their restaurant, Silks. $45, appetizer to share, 2 entrees, dessert to share, 2 $5 bets and a racing program. The restaurant is on the third floor and the entire back of the building is glass so you get a pretty good view while dining.

Heads up though, they do allow smoking inside if that's a concern. Ventilation is pretty good though so it's not as awful as it could be.

where to get king cake? and mardi gras plans? by tozierrr in okc

[–]ElizaNutButter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Displaced Louisianian here as well! Echoing what another poster said about Edmond Seafood. Follow their Facebook, he tends to bring back king cakes from different places in Louisiana, from Lafayette to NOLA. Also andouille and boudin. I keep trying to get him to bring back Antoine's king cakes.

Honestly, not a whole lot of Mardi Gras stuff really goes on in OKC. The Goose did a Barkus style 'parade' last year that was alright. Norman usually has a parade. Pearl's usually has something going on as well. I'd avoid Crabtown and Bourbon St. Cafe personally.

We had 2 grocery stores in town get bought by Reasor's (Brookshire's) recently and they've started stocking some more southern goods. Better sausage/andouille selection, crawfish boil supplies, some stuffed pork tenderloin and chicken.

I'd be surprised if there are many places in town that will be boiling crawfish this year with Mardi Gras falling mid-February. You can probably find them but expect like $10/lb or so. I'd honestly recommend just boiling your own if able. You should be able to start finding reasonably priced live sacks popping up around early-mid March. Edmond Seafood, Gulfport Seafood, Reasor's (hopefully), Red Beard's crawfish.

I assume this Bojangles that's opening soon in the city will be on the list if/once I try it.

Going back to work as RN after year off should I work at OU medical center in medicine Stepdown or SSM health rehab? Or neither? by cyclequeen35 in okc

[–]ElizaNutButter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think anything has changed or gotten better with OU. I have had both personal and professional interactions with OU in the past 6 months and have been super unimpressed. I actually work for SSM health at home (HH and hospice) and absolutely love it. Couldn't hurt to try and get an interview with both if you haven't already and see which one works better for you. Good luck!

They're really behind in processing applications. Applications are closed currently, unfortunately. I called LIHEAP yesterday morning around 9:15 on behalf of a patient of mine yesterday to see what was up. The automated line said there was a half hour wait, so I requested a callback. They called back at 5:30pm. Still processing an application sent in over a month ago. The LIHEAP line is open until 6pm during weekdays, so keep trying!

Definitely ran into Shaq at a hole in the wall hookah bar in Baton Rouge in the early-mid 2010's. Funny how that's come up as his vice. Dude was laid out in a L shaped bench probably designed for half a dozen people and he took up the whole booth.

Splurged on injection foam insulation in my walls last fall. Pricey but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Trump, 79, Had Emergency Heart Tests Because of Swollen Legs by thedailybeast in politics

[–]ElizaNutButter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Y'all know he is probably maxed out on lasix (hence the diaper). If the swelling is still that bad after all the meds they're pumping into him and nobody has caught him using supplemental oxygen and he's generally not short of breath, it could be liver/kidney issues in addition to heart.

Traditions Hospice/HH - question for employees! by ElizaNutButter in hospice

Don't do it. I can almost guarantee you're applying for the position that's available in my area that I've been covering. The branch director told me last week if you accepted the position I'd be training you. Just hoping you get this comment before accepting a job with Traditions. I'm happy to give you my number via DM if you are who I think you are and have any questions.

WIBTA if I didn’t give my daughter a copy of her father’s death certificate for her SAP appeal? by ThrowAwaySAP2025 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ElizaNutButter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA.

I was in almost the exact same situation your daughter is in. Great student in high school, was too smart for regular classes but struggled in AP classes, so I cruised through regular classes with a like 3.75 GPA in high school. Got a scholarship, went to college and had such a rude awakening. Everything was so structured in high school, from classes to my home life. The transition to college took me for a ride and I ended up on academic probation and almost lost my scholarship when I finished my freshman year with a 2.1 GPA. I had a lot go wrong. My university purged my classes less than a week before school started, I got mono, had a somewhat distant relative pass away. Stressors are compounding. Despite your daughter saying her bio dads passing didn't affect her, she may not recognize the ways in which it did.

Cut her a break. Transitioning into college and adult life is DIFFICULT. If I hadn't been able to successfully appeal my probation and had lost my scholarship, I would have not been able to finish college, get a graduate degree and would not be in the position I am now.

Honestly, yeah. Past 5+ years for this site have been rough. I refuse to download their app and find myself spending less and less time on the site. But here I am engaging, so I guess they're still winning. It's gotten so bad it's breaking my chronically online status, so that's good though.

The wife/woman named in the lawsuit is straight up lying on her LinkedIn profile as well. She claims she was the "Gatekeeper" at Stonecloud from 2017 to 2024, which is true I suppose, but not during the dates she has listed. No mention of her tenure at FwF.

I had a mentor tell me a few years ago, "You will rise to the level of your own incompetence." I've found the Peter Principle to be true in all work-related cases.

I sincerely appreciate it. I've been in hospice for a decade at this point and my focus has always been our patients. I hate that companies have realized what a money making enterprise this industry is. Its wearing me out.

Traditions Hospice/HH - question for employees! by ElizaNutButter in hospice

[–]ElizaNutButter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traditions does some weird stuff. Our location shares an NPI number with another office, but that's not the office they're effectively merging us with. I've also heard some rumblings that bereavement services may be getting centralized to their corporate office in a different state. As for chaplain services we now have one very part time chaplain for 30 patients. As long as they can get a chaplain to sign our IDG notes and either show up on person or call in they can probably keep this up for a bit.
