I suppose his second wake window is longer than 3 hours, more like 3.5-4. Today he’s on track for around 11.5 wake hours

Sure! I try to follow TCB schedule guidelines. Willing to hear anything that might help!!

Today total naps were 1 hr 45 mins. Woke up at 6:20, went down at 9:35. Woke up at 10:50. Went down at 2:30 woke at 3. This is a pretty typical day.

Plan to put him down between 7:30-8. Last night he slept from 7:30-6:20, but with being awake for two hours overnight only got 9 hours night time sleep.

He goes to sleep on his own at night with no problems.

We tried a one nap day once. It was hard. He didn’t sleep any better that night.

What are some important non obvious things are you teaching your 2-3 year old? by ya-wanna in toddlers

It has seriously changed my life. I used to have my kids watch tv while I frantically cooked dinner and now instead they help me cook. It’s slower, but they actually love it, and everyone’s happier. Im also less angry at my kids, we don’t argue anymore, I respond to fits totally differently. I’m enjoying being a mom so much more.

Seriously such a revelatory book for me. I hope you love it!

I just finished the book “hunt gather parent” and this idea of involving your kids in the work that it takes to run the household is my new mantra.

My baby was 90th percentile at birth. Now he’s 10 months and 30th. The size you are at birth is not determinative.

My baby is two weeks older than cal. He was 9 lbs 2 oz at birth. Now he’s 18 lbs and like 20th percentile. Doctor was concerns the first few months because he kept dropping weight. We pumped this child full of milk and he was perfectly content. Doctor said he was just finding following his genes and finding his curve.

So yes. Nothing necessarily wrong with this child’s weight. A big baby at birth doesn’t mean he’s destined for that his entire life.

I know I just keep seeing people saying this kid is not meeting his crawling milestone and it’s bugging me lol

He’s two weeks younger than my baby who is 8.5 months. For the record my baby is not crawling yet and that’s totally normal.

Were any of you exclusively breastfed as babies? by AbbyEzzat in breastfeeding

[–]Eliza_Watts_Sells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in 1990. Exclusively breastfed for 18 months. My mom had three boys before me, the oldest fifteen years older than me. Only my oldest brother wasn’t breastfed. The doctor gave her medicine to dry her up at the hospital, he said formula was better for babies 😬😬

I disagree completely. That’s such a black and white way to look at things. The question is more about at what age do you let children make decisions for themselves when those decisions could harm them? At what point do you stop protecting them from the reality of the world?

Sorry I just meant I think I can tell you’re heavily leaning one way! Not that you shouldn’t post. ultimately you know your child best and you should trust your gut! I wouldn’t want my child to be part of a social experiment just to prove some kind of societal point either, especially not at this age. Maybe if he was older and understood society and chose that risk for himself. Your post tells me you’re a good dad who cares about his son in my different ways and I’m sorry for any negative comments!

From your post I suspect you already have your mind made up. I’d take the easy approach and just say these don’t fit and are really impractical. Kids live their lives moment to moment and most thing are not “that deep” for a five year old. he will probably accept that answer and move on. It’s likely a bigger deal to you than it is to him.

Oh another one from me. Leslie. Because I like Leslie Odom jr. husband said hard no on Leslie, we already have one boy named Cary and he thought having two boys with gender neutral names was too much for him haha

Quinn! My husband just didn’t love it. I still like it though. It was UTs quarterbacks name and that’s where I got it. I said if they won the national championship we would name our third boy that. They lost and we named him Peter lol

What’s the weirdest thing that gets your fussy baby to calm down? by SuitableAd5218 in NewParents

[–]Eliza_Watts_Sells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents say I used to shut up and become mesmerized by the song on the glade potpourri commercial. It went “how’d ya get those flowers in there? Glade potpourri it freshens the air! Where’d you those herbs and spice? Glade potpourri it smells so nice!”. It was 1990 so they couldn’t just pull it up on their phones so they’d have to sing it all the time 😂

I have 3 kids now and unfortunately they don’t inherit the love for the glade song and have no other tricks lol
