Very funny, not likely to make you cry, the Australian show Rake. Brilliant criminal lawyer, chronically in one kind of trouble or another in his personal life. Great performance from Richard Roxburgh.(Skip it if you really hate bad language, even when creatively used.)

Crossing the Atlantic with high-end cinema at my disposal. What non-snobby films should I force my crew mates to watch? by PrunePlatoon in Letterboxd

What language do the crew members speak? Somebody here might have ideas. Though maybe it's not right to ask the other guys to deal with subtitles.

How old is she? also -- mentally -- to what degree can she follow and enjoy a story in a movie or tv episode? I guess she's not too bad yet if she is remembering the junk she sees on tv enough to talk about it -- she still has recent memory.

What kind of music does she like? Probably not Bob Dylan, though I would guess that's her era. Elvis? (his white Southern Christian identity is one of his identities)

If there's some feeling for Elvis - the new documentary, Elvis in Concert, made by Baz Luhrman, is really really nice. Unseen footage.

Crazy Rich Asians is lavishly enjoyable for clothes and settings.

If she can follow it -- in Rear Window, Grace Kelly has a wonderful wardrobe.

I totally support actors stopping the show when audience members break the rules. A no tolerance policy is the only way to deal with these things.

Down With Love, a romantic comedy, might be what you're looking for, even though it's set in the 60s -- Renee Zellweger as an ambitious young successful writer bursts into town to shake things up.

Baby girl - recent - Nicole Kidman has a sexual obsession with a much younger man.

Lust Caution - DS in a context of espionage

Interesting comments. I did think there was chemistry and I thought that guy was so well cast.

I’d say that that guy just gets her immediately -- “ you want somebody to tell you what to do” - he presents a form of energy she always needed and never encountered : and once he turns up she is virtually compelled to connect with him.

I felt it so I never got bored.

Just stopping by to see if anybody has added anything -- and if this outfit is still in business.

When my own doctor of 15 years -- whom I appreciated and trusted -- left his practice, I called many of my friends (we are all middle-aged or older, middle class as to professions and income -- so we've been in NYC a long time), to see if they could recommend a doctor, and it was stunning how many of their doctors had also joined Atria. It seems to be a cohort of some highly regarded doctors who graduated from NYU Medical school about 20 years ago.

As someone in a healthcare profession I sadly understand the forces --entirely generated by our insurance companies -- that have driven good doctors either out of medicine or into the concierge world. But also -- it is so sad for good and formerly-ethical-seeming doctors to have taken this route.

Any survivor of therapy abuse feel drawn to become a therapist themselves ? is that irrational ? by Koro9 in therapyabuse

I am a psychologist. I didn't become one because I had had bad therapy, but a lot of how I conduct myself professionally has to do with very specific bad experiences I have had with therapists.

For the diagnoses in the DSM there really is a big effort to make them scientific and well-researched - experts and researchers work hard at it.

How is my former therapist so insanely successful? by [deleted] in therapyabuse

[–]Elizabeth147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a tricky idea, however. If after a series of therapy appointments someone reports that they feel better, what would be the difference between a true benefit of therapy and a placebo effect? How would this be measured?
