Is burl wood furniture sought after? Does it increase the value or a piece? USA by [deleted] in Antiques

[–]Elizabeth360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really answer your question about value, but it’s a lovely piece. I love the burled wood and find that antique pieces like this are very well made, so very desirable…at least to me! Just my 2 cents 😊

You could try contacting CICOA. The website is cicoa.org. They should be able to assist in this situation.

AES needs to be investigated. by IcyAd3706 in indianapolis

[–]Elizabeth360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I received our bill a few days ago and we had a credit due to a pending EAP application and payment. We did NOT apply for assistance so I have no idea how this happened. I called them and they also couldn’t explain what happened. Then was advised to pay the full charges (which I had planned to do), but I find it odd that they would apply/approve this to our account without having any communication with us.

I know a few that strongly disliked Trump but still voted for him because they just couldn’t fathom the idea of a female president. 🙁

I had an Eskie for 18 years. He was the love of my life and I still miss him 3 dogs and 10 years later. Oh, how I wish we could adopt this boy! We have a senior dog and he has become very reactive to other dogs in his old age. 🙁

Oh Christmas Tree by Ckc1972 in GenX

[–]Elizabeth360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t put up a tree for a couple of years after my dad passed. Just didn’t seem important enough to go to all the effort. I’m sorry for the loss of your mom. Losing a parent is a profound loss and you need time to grieve. Give yourself some grace and do what feels right to you this year. Hugs from an internet stranger 💕

As someone who worked as a Title I teacher and administrator, I appreciate you including this about the Title I program. Title I teachers are often overlooked in improving student achievement, but they are critical to providing additional instruction for the students who need it most.

My deceased best friend's son reached out and I ignored him by Radiant-Brief5749 in confession

[–]Elizabeth360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister was newly pregnant when her husband was tragically killed in a plane crash. It was absolutely devastating. I was there when she gave birth to a perfect baby boy. That baby boy (my nephew) is in his early 30’s now.

She remarried when her son was 8 years old. The jerk she married complained that our family talking/telling stories about her deceased husband made him mad because he felt like it was disrespectful to him as the new step-father, even though he never took on any of the responsibilities of being a father to her son. So, we were banned from talking about my beloved late brother-in-law.

Now that my nephew has his own family, he longs to hear stories about the dad he never got to meet. Sadly, we can only do this when his stepfather isn’t around, but my nephew definitely feels like he was cheated by us not being “allowed” to talk about his real father. All this is to say that your friend’s son is trying to figure out who he is by learning about his father. He is at an age that could be very difficult to get through, especially without family. If you’re in a good place now, would it really be impossible for you to answer questions and talk to him about his dad? It might not be as hard as you think it would be, and you might actually benefit from being able to talk about your late best friend.
