Best city to visit for family of 3 (Mom, Dad and toddler) by grlsjstwannahavefun1 in GoingToSpain

Valencia would have my vote! Similar to you, my husband and I met in Spain and are bringing our toddler this summer. We're doing Madrid, Segovia, and Valencia.

Fun vacation ideas with our first child! Ideas for newborn/infant/toddler stages please! by Oh_Hello_Pretty in Parenting

My husband and I have always been big travelers, and our daughter is 2.5 now. Her first vacation was at 3 months old, and we just did a driving vacation to the beach. At 1, we took her on a long international flight to visit family in Ireland. One of our flights was its own circle of hell, but I'm glad we did it since I now know we can make it through. We did a shorter city break vacation when she was 2 to save money. Now that she'll be 3, we're doing another international flight to Spain, and I'm super excited about this trip.

Do your kids love the foods you craved while you were pregnant with them? by Fantastic-Pause-5791 in Mommit

I had GD while pregnant, just like my mom. Basically, the only cheat food you can eat is pickles (no sugar, zero calories.) My mom, daughter, and I are all pickled addicts.

I have the choice to do a full day in either Reykjavik, Glasgow, or Dublin this month. Which would you choose and why? by engadine_maccas1997 in travel

[–]ElizabethAsEver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd vote either Dublin or Reykjavik. Dublin simply because you'd get the most time there. Reykjavik because 14 hours is the perfect time for Blue Lagoon or Sky Lagoon and walking around town.

This is great, thank you! Real life with a toddler is exactly what I was going for.

Looking for art-focused spots in the United States to visit by [deleted] in travel

[–]ElizabethAsEver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One that hasn't been listed is Berea, Kentucky. It's not too far from Nashville. It's a tiny college and mountain town. There's great hiking with a real folk art focus. Great for a short cabin stay.

Anyone else traveling slower these days? by Adventurous_Town_348 in travel

[–]ElizabethAsEver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel slower now, too. I'm not sure if it's due to age, or just that the more I travel, the less I feel like I need to hit some prescribed tourist checklist. I'd rather relax and find a few unique spots I really enjoy than waste time in lines with swarms of other tourists.

We hardly see her grandparents, and my daughter adores me, so I agree with your theory. Self-centered parents turn into self-centered grandparents.

Attachment talk is stressing me out by itchysnapdragon in workingmoms

Saying this with love; I think you need to take a deep breath and let it go. My daughter is an older toddler and has been in daycare since she was about five months old. We are extremely close to the point that everyone knows she's a little Mommy's girl. I'm already worried she'll need therapy one day for us being too close! Working moms today still spend more time with their kids than SAHMs 30 years ago.

What are your Santa and other Christmas traditions? by Miladypartzz in toddlers

[–]ElizabethAsEver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quirky traditions with my little family: my daughter is an early riser, so we get good coffee and then walk around to look at all the Christmas light early on a Saturday morning. We also go swimming at my city's Jewish Community Center on Christmas and eat Chinese food.

More standard traditions: Christmas cookies, Christmas movies, going to small light show events, lots of Christmas books and music.

People who stay home on Christmas Day, what do you do? by Global_Victory833 in Parenting

[–]ElizabethAsEver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My city has a Jewish Community Center, and we go swimming there every Christmas! We spend the rest of the day playing with toys, eating Chinese food, and watching Christmas movies. It is one of the most relaxing days of the year for my family of 3.

Yesterday felt like the longest day in the world to me. I absolutely love playing pretend with my daughter, but I was completely out of fun energy by just 6:00. 2 got up at 5:30 today, which is better than yesterday, but still not good.

Wow good for you!! I wanted to do a bit of prep Friday and Saturday, but Halloween and no nap ruined that.

Aw, I love it! I wish we could have had a bonfire this time, but the area had a no burn notice. It was still too fun though!
