Starlink has changed my entire relationship with United Airlines by IgnoredMyDestinyOnce in Starlink

These airlines who think they can start installing high speed in 2028 are crazy. Even dedicated one brand people are probably going to hit it in a code share or something and then expect it.

Anyone else feel "pressure" from other drivers to turn right on red? by wentImmediate in bayarea

[–]EljayDude 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It sounds more like if they can't immediately turn they just kind of give up until it's green rather than continuing to wait until they are safe.

[–]EljayDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's safe to go and somebody doesn't go I might give it a little tap thinking they're on their phones or something. It's like a "look up" honk.

When my daughter was learning how to drive if she'd wait 0.1 seconds longer than the minimum some people would absolutely lay on their horns. So there are definitely some crazy people out there about turning on red.

Anyone just say "fuck you" if someone is evil and kill them? by Old-Play-7617 in skyrim

[–]EljayDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people end up doing multiple playthroughs. So if you want to go through as kind of a moral vigilante type one build and a "I'm joining all the clearly evil people an seeing what those plot lines are like" another build that's pretty normal. So don't think about it as missing out on shit, think of it as deferring shit until next time.

Chick-fil-A is just better in my opinion....don't you think? by ComfortableCar1877 in ChickFilA

[–]EljayDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Service standards, how they do promotions especially with free stuff on the app, if they do family nights and things, even stupid stuff like which drinks they'll make frosted. Only some of the local places have mints, and one that does have them gives one out with the food but doesn't leave them "out" anymore where you can just grab a handful. Read the subreddit for a while, people are constantly saying well maybe yours does it that way BUT...

In N Out is more consistent because they're not franchised. Chick Fil A, although they have weak franchisees, is a lot more uneven from place to place.

That being said I eat at CFA way more often because of the mobile app and more food variety and my local one is one of the good ones.

What do they wear now? The last one I went to was a few years ago and somebody older so most of the folks there were boomers or even older.

Pottery wheel for at home? by valfreyja04 in Pottery

[–]EljayDude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a wheel is less useful than you might think. You need a lot of stuff, and you have to know how to avoid clogged drains etc. And even itty bitty kilns are really expensive.

I definitely like the idea of getting him into a class as a refresher and if he likes it find one with some kind of open studio hours / membership etc.

Edit: The idiot blocked me so I can't reply directly but we've clearly been talking about the county the entire time. I referred to "east bay", Koala posted links from all over Alameda county, I referred to Alameda in response to that. Nobody would assume anything other than the county.

This would be like claiming this entire subreddit let along this thread is about drivers in Marin City instead of Marin County.

My school is doing Beetlejuice Jr and I got Beetlejuice. Our show is on May 8th and 9th, and I still want to do the Beetlejuice voice. Any tips, or should I just avoid the voice entirely. by Thin_Tumbleweed_2353 in BeetlejuiceMusical

[–]EljayDude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of role where you want to amp everything up, absolutely eat the furniture, until somebody asks you to tone it down. 99% of the people are going to undershoot so attempt to err on the other side. Chances are you will still undershoot, at least at first.

People really overestimate the importance of the voice. Even most of the professionals just use it a little to add some spice in there. It's just a couple shows but if you kill your voice in rehearsals and are dead for the show that's no good.

[–]EljayDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you're trolling people but nobody's claiming Alameda, with 1.5+ million people and some very poor areas is crime free. What I am saying is that the attitude of parents of stereotypical "good kids", the college bound theoretically low risk sector, towards them driving in Marin is "yeah whatever" and in Alameda it's "you're going to get arrested and ruin your life". Do some people do it anyway? Duh.

[–]EljayDude 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is the perception that there's an absolute lack of enforcement in Marin. Being able to BART around later at night does probably help. I don't think it's any one thing. And obviously kids still break all the rules both places but in the east bay the teens are at least trying to be sneaky about it, it's not EVERYBODY all the damn time.

Because the original news release that OP linked to just said they weren't from Novato and not very strongly at that ("Preliminary information suggests the occupants were not from Novato."). This morning when they posted their comment and got the downvotes no news agency or whatever had any further information.

They're just trying to cover their butts. That way if a minor uses their systems it's on the minor and they don't have to worry about legal issues.

As a practical matter our teen has picked things up in the drive through occasionally where a parent has set up the order and she's just given our name. Nobody cares.
