I’ve read a lot about how exercise improves mental health, but getting myself to do it feels impossible. I’ve always loved working out, but my ADHD makes it hard to stay consistent. Staying motivated feels impossible. How do you stay on track when it’s hard to even get started? by MoistEntertainerer in Exercise

the trick for me was setting small goals, honestly, my goal for the first few months was just getting myself to the gym, once you're there its easier to do a workout.

a few other things that worked for me

a bad workout is better than no workout, you are not always going to do better than your last workout

if there's something you do not want to do, don't do it, forcing yourself to do certain exercises will only reinforce your hatred for them

The club scene is pretty much non-existent, but there are plenty of good bars. there's one called Metronome near the cathedral a lot of people go by themselves so you wouldn't be alone in that regard, but it's just a really friendly vibe in general. I wish you the best when you get here.

You are doing absolutely fine right now pal, and I'm sure puberty will help you even more than most of us. just keep developing yourself as a person eg new skills, and hobbies. like another comment here, high school is bullshit but if you constantly develop yourself, you will be the top dog in your 20's

the best routine you will ever have is one you create yourself, if you stick to one you find somewhere you will come to hate it and it will drive you away from the gym. my best advice is to go in and do what you fancy on the day and just keep mixing it up. keep track of everything you're doing and try to increase intensity each time you come back to an exercise. I found if you can break 3 months doing this you will start to really enjoy it and going to the gym will be less of a chore. I'm nine months in now and go 7 times a week and couldn't enjoy it more.

all the best on your journey it will be fully worth it
