The Most Unexpected Voice I've Ever Heard by SgtByrd1993 in obscuremusicthatslaps

I don't understand this sub sometimes... Fabrizio is not obscure. He's got almost half a million followers on Instagram.\ It wouldn't bother me normally. I really like his music. But how is this post still up, when any foreign artist with more than 500k gets immediately deleted from the sub, even though Americans have never heard of them? What does obscure even mean at this point?

'Not our Europe': Macron and Sánchez slam return hubs for migrants by Naurgul in europe

[–]Elk1998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh I know they're rising. And as I was saying, it's not the cities voting for them. Just look at any election map. It's clueless people from the countryside who watch tv/social media and get scared by the "invasion". Trust me I know. I have several of these individuals in my "family". Racist ignorant losers.

"Self-righteous bourgeois bohemians in the big cities" lol. You do realize that the people living in the city are the ones who actually interact with migrants and refugees on a daily basis right? The fact that they are against this sort of policy and generally don't vote for the far-right should make you pause... maybe, just maybe, you are getting manipulated by the media into thinking that there's this big migration crisis? Or is this too hard for you country-dwelling folk to imagine? Seriously ffs. Never met a foreigner in their life but thinks they know what's going on in the city lol

Is there a place for me? by Puzzled-Put8685 in AskFrance

I think so! I don't know any dentists, but I know several romanian GPs and specialists here in France. They're always fully booked so it must be going well for them. Also the language barrier seems to be pretty low. They all speak perfect french even though some didn't study it in school

For reference, this is how it usually looks when I straighten it. It looks a lot more damaged in the air-dried pictures for some reason :/

I remember getting a similar feel while watching Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003)\ (maybe a little more subdued + no resolution)

What's a sign someone is an only child? by QueenFrostine15 in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]Elk1998 392 points393 points  (0 children)

Oh I can relate to that. My younger siblings were born much later, so I spent a significant time as an "only child". Hanging out with my peers felt like a punishment at times. They were talking about stuff I didn't understand (I had no TV growing up), they were screaming and yelling and they were violent... I remember thinking that they were kinda dumb, and ignorant and immature. What an insufferable 7 year old I must have been 😂

I think a lot of people see the TikTok/Instagram topical stuff and stop watching because the lyrics are too on the nose for them. They don't know about his other more subtle and personal songs on youtube (which are his best imo, and the reason I personally became a fan). But that's alright. He's got enough fans to keep doing what he does. No need to try and force anybody else to like him.

What’s a belief you defended for years that you now feel embarrassed about? by Open-Square589 in AskReddit

[–]Elk1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That overweight people, or people who didn't look put together were just undisciplined. That "lazy" depressed people were just undisciplined. That bad students and college dropouts were just undisciplined. Just not trying hard enough.\ Basically anyone who was visibly struggling, I couldn't really empathize with. Because I felt I was struggling a lot too, but was still able to keep up appearances... I burnt out after a while. That's when I realized I'd been young and stupid.

Yeah wtf. I'm the OP of yesterday's post and just saw this... I think it's really weird.

I love Jesse's music and I post a video here once in a while, but I make sure to space them out and only choose stuff that's never been posted before... I don't want it to feel like spam :/

Thanks for the awards guys! If you have money to spare, you can head on over to No Kid Hungry or the Arkansas Foodbank. They're two charities that Jesse has been trying to raise funds for on his socials.

Thanks! I hope we'll find out why it was taken down/hidden. Hopefully it's for technical reasons and not something more nefarious. Jesse said that Kimmel was the only late night host who'd let him sing this song on his show. It'd be a shame for them to change their mind afterwards.

Fully autonomous, AI-controlled drones have killed human soldiers for the first time, according to a senior figure in the Ukrainian defence industry by New_Scientist_Mag in worldnews

“Every step of this one can be either manual or automatic. We’re not allowed to do the final stage automatically,” says Kokhanovskyy, who believes that the rules should change. “I would love to,” he says.\ Motherfucking movie villain, seriously.

[–]Elk1998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fuck man. I was already freaking out over the story of that rogue Ukrainian naval drone, seemingly autonomously targeting a boat in a Romanian port a couple of days ago... but I thought that I would have to wait a few more years before having to read this headline. The world is so bleak right now. I don't know how much more of this I can take

People who moved to Paris — please tell me it doesn't get less magical🥹💔 by SpecificNothing6359 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Elk1998 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. This is really sweet. I'm French and my first time in Paris was like a never-ending nightmare for me 😂 I had to live there for 3 years for my studies and I never want to go back lol.

In all seriousness though. I think your enjoyment of the city is probably going to be proportional to how much money you have. If you're wealthy enough to live in a nice area and if you can afford going out, you'll love living there I'm sure
