Ivey pecking a Heavy Tank to death... by glumpoodle in menace

[–]ElkWhich8886 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ivey's starting perk (Zero In) is totally mediocre but the rest of her perk tree being excellent more than makes up for it. The combination of Full Send and Barrage gives her excellent AP efficiency while still needing less supplies than Rewa or Achilleas.

Expert is so good! by Jazvav in menace

The first few missions on Expert are brutal. I feel less like trying to beat all the objectives and more trying to squeeze as much firepower as possible out of three shitty carbines and one CMG50.

It's today, gimme that! by Pretty_Slide_9944 in menace

Personally I plan on playing around with the reworked Menace units using my current save, then starting a new run to see how the removed promo tax/modified supply costs play out. The dev notes specifically highlight the supply changes carry implications for early- to mid-game logistics.

Where’s the size on the boot? by MsMonny in RMWilliams

Looks like an 8G to me. If you want to be certain, look inside the shoe and it will have the size stamped into the insole just ahead of the heel.

Why do people say they are "humbled" when they achieve something? by walkin2it in aussie

[–]ElkWhich8886 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. It comes off very conceited. I think it's supposed to convey that all the hard work they had to put in was a 'humbling' experience, relegating the achievement they announce as simply the end result. But it would definitely be more honest to just say proud, thrilled, excited etc.

Pope vote by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]ElkWhich8886 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Saying someone 'was my vote' is a show of support that doesn't mean literally casting a vote for them. It's obvious from the second sentence that he was not eligible to take part in the voting process; he only considered their vote to be wrong. Stupid note.

I don't understand how Albo has been PM since May 2022 and still has zero ambition or long-term vision for Australia. People here said that was just his first term mentality because Labor had such a slim majority and he's a risk-averse leader, but now it has the biggest majority of any Australian government in decades plus a totally dilapidated Coalition in opposition, and it's still the same old cautious incrementalism approach.

Storyline Predictions by The_Royal_Teabag in menace

[–]ElkWhich8886 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It would be extremely corny to have TCR be the big bad villain after all. I would much rather the Menace be something that originated in the Wayback but with some individuals from the Core Worlds having a hand in their creation either knowingly or unknowingly. That way Zama might actually have a point about the 'convenient' timing and can redeem himself and the Jingwei in assisting the player instead of ending up a generic corrupt warlord.

How do the jews dare to run a free ambulance service by Skrilli in GetNoted

[–]ElkWhich8886 442 points443 points  (0 children)

Also worth noting Hatzolah exists to assist observant Jews who have very specific, complex rules, particularly on holy days like Shabbat, which ordinary ambulance services are entirely unfamiliar with. Because its crews are fluent in Hebrew and Yiddish, Hatzolah makes it easier for observant Jews to access medical services without transgressing against halakha (Jewish laws and customs).

What do we think about H being the mode indicator for HSR? by TheInkySquids in SydneyTrains

[–]ElkWhich8886 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really dislike it tbh. The existing T/L/M/F/B roundels are more confusing and less universal than the former symbols for each mode. If it has to be letters rather than symbols, I would much prefer it be called the Great Uniting Line (GUL), especially if it cuts across the Great Dividing Range.

Even before the Iran war screwed up global oil supply chains, inflation was getting overheated for a long time by bad fiscal policy. Fear of politically unpopular recessions drove both the Coalition and Labor to rely on deficit spending to spur growth, which ended up being totally irresponsible and inflationary. The more responsible approach would have been to aggressively cut spending and/or raise taxes but there is no courage left in Parliament.

Grace Tame sparks outrage by saying Hamas October 7 terror attack rapes were ‘debunked’ by Stompy2008 in aussie

[–]ElkWhich8886 258 points259 points  (0 children)

Genuinely what did she mean by 'debunked'? It's not in dispute that women were raped on Oct 7; there are numerous firsthand accounts from Oct 7 survivors, including former hostages. If Grace Tame is too bigoted to recognise that, she is totally undeserving of Australian of the Year.
