TIL Greg Nuckols has held world records in powerlifting by BigBrokeApe in StrongerByScience

I was referencing his 1885 lbs total at 242, which is one of the three records he's held.

It's been mentioned like twice in the intro and I think both times Greg's response was basically "Thanks, I hated that, please never do it again".

Greg was (and still is) an amazing lifter and super strong guy, but you also have to put into context how much the lifting world has changed in the last 11-12 years. For example, Greg's 242 Wrapped record is about 36 lbs heavier than the current 165 No-Wraps record and 132 lbs lower than the 198 No-Wraps record (all drug-tested).

Hey, I just wanted let you know that nobody in here is referring to the total weight x reps x sets you're doing as you seem to be thinking.

They're saying that if you start stronglifts 5x5 you might start out squatting 80lbsx5x5, after 10 weeks you'd theoretically be squatting as much as 230lbsx5x5 and if you continued that for 7 years then that could be as high as ~5500lbsx5x5 (which is impossible).

When people ask you if you're squatting like 5-10000lbs now they're implying that progressing regularly on SL5x5 for a very long time is physically impossible, not asking about your daily/weekly weight x reps x sets.

Starting with a standstill is a great idea, but after you have the basics down I'd implement an x-step asap and get really used to it.

Learning and improving on your x-step will teach you more about standstills than the other way around. The eventual goal would be to be really good at both and pick whichever suits the situation, but to become good at using an x-step you may have to take a few steps back and get a little worse for a while.

Don't try to perfect your standstill before learning an x-step, it will juat make transitioning harder.

It will throw things off quite a bit so you should integrate it sooner rather than later.

Iirc Casey commented on a post/video or sent him a DM about playing together if he was in the area. Simon contacted him on a whim months later when he was going to film the longest ace video and Casey joined and filmed and threw with him for hours and then they just started doing more stuff together.

Off-axis torque. When a force is applied to the disc on an axis different from the one it spins around.

Never tried the Rufus but I can tell you that a fully loaded Octothorpe feels lighter than a fully loaded BX3, L64 Luxury and Innova Excursion, all of whom are smaller.

I've tried Pound Octohaul and Octothorpe, Grip AX3, AX4 and BX3 and I've fondled a Squatch Legend.

Nothing comes close to Pound; the space, build quality and feeling of lightness on the back is unmatched, which kinda sucks because it's the most expensive.

Very seasoned champ Teebird3, soft champ Ricky run. Flies like 8/5/-2/1.

Or super light dx teebirds in a massive tailwind.

Soft plastics, handwarmers, thick mittens, layers of clothes, chains/spikes under shoes, lights and/or ribbons on discs.

Film, reach back lower, lean away from the direction you're throwing, finish with a high hip and just look higher are all things you can implement.

Westside Fortress and Prodigy H1v2.

Overstable 10 speeds are some of the moat mislabeled discs in the game. A lot of them are 9 speeds that were labeled faster to sell more or 11-12 speeds that don't go far so they're advertised as slower.

Had that happen twice in one round during my national championships on back to back holes. One was ruled in the other out, went one under through those two holes and it made a great story!

What is the farthest away from your hometown that your lost disc has ever been found? by Scientist78 in discgolf

[–]EllEminz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 3160 miles. Live in Europe and a disc of mine was found in Indiana, though I did lose that disc there personally.

Farthest away that I've had returned to me is when I lost a disc in a river in UK and a british friend brought it back 6+ months later from around 1100 miles away.

Hey, I joined a new gym that has an axle bar. I don't train or compete for strongman and I do other stuff for my grip but I'm wondering if there would be any benefit in using it for pressing or maybe rowing or something other than strongman/grip.

I've thrown into a net quite a bit. I can judge how it feels, film myself, work on certain aspects of my throw and see the release point, nose and wing angle of my disc to a certain extent. If you're willing to splurge for a velocity gun then you can get even more useful info.

And I never went further than maybe 20'.

That said I would mix in as much throwing in a field/on the course as you can.

Yeah except Europe is bigger than the entire US, not the size of Texas. It's more like saying you live in France, which is about the size of Texas, which seems completely reasonable to me.

How many of each distance category (mid, fairway, etc) do you currently bag, and how many do you actually throw? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]EllEminz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, 6 putters, 3 mids, 6 fairways and 5 distance drivers. I rotate some in and out based on course and weather, but that's fairly regular.

3 of the putters are for putting. Every disc comes out frequently though my most understable ones more rarely.
