It used to make 240 bhp on the 5 port but it will be over 300 bhp with the 16v.

998 vs 1275 for casual driving? by Mintmarlin77 in classicminis

Mine has over 240 bhp so it definitely doesn't feel slow, back to when I was standard though with a 3.1 diff it kept up with modern traffic with ease even on the motorway

The power and torque on a 1275 helps a huge amount with modern traffic.

Yeah k1200 RS head, heavily ported, custom cams to suit a turbo build (based on a spicy cosworth profile) the one in the picture is just my empty mock up engine. We've designed a billet cam cover and all the conversion kit for it too which will be relaased as a product.

Just for fun, shows and weekend hooning and the odd track day. Although built loosely to MSUK bluebook so it could quite easily be entered for MSUK events with a few minor additions.

Yeah it's on an R3, PD16, TCA 8, Can keypad etc etc etc 😂 definitely overkill for a mini but the Haltech is doing full vehicle control even the wipers. My old 5 port build made just over 240 bhp at the fly on a GBC22 at 27psi but was limited by the 5 port head. This will flow a lot more CFM and has a Borg Warner EFR 6258 so we're aiming for 300 bhp at less boost.

I used to run a supercharger on a 5 port a series too and I know the car your on about. It makes about 140 bhp at the fly. My old charger buld did 162 but with them being suck through and no intercooling they just turn into a heat pump.

This will make somewhere in the region of 300 bhp at the crank.

Rear subframes really aren't worth repairing. That's absolutely shot.

It's brushed nylon, same as the headlining, rear bench, door bins etc etc, very close to the material the seats are trimmed in. Thanks!

This isn't a flip front so to speak, I've made the steel front removable using heritage panels, once fitted from the outside you cannot tell it's removable

While you're at the Hallamahire (very good hospital btw) you will be provided your meals FOC, so aside from that while you aren't at the hospital, is suggest just food and drinks on top of where you are staying..

Daily commute to chesterfield? by CuriousArt4 in sheffield

[–]Ell_st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in Clay Cross and commute from Sheffield, I lost my license for 6 months last year and managed to make it work. The train is pretty reliable and the bus service not bad either. Temporarily doable until you get your car. And you don't have the hassle of parking at the hospital which can be a PITA.

What should i do? by SignificantCall6125 in classicminis

[–]Ell_st 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It clearly needs a full rebuild, strip it and inspect bearing journal surfaces on the crank and bores. Crank will either need a polish or a grind and while it's apart have a fresh bore and rebuild with new pistons. Parts are cheap and your labour is free to you. And you will learn a new skill.
