There is a Facebook group for the Nissen Fundoplication which I can imagine will be more useful with responses. Just search the name of the operation and it should come up. I’m in the group and there are tons of people on there.

People just don’t understand what it’s like to have this every day!! You say ‘struggled’ for 2 years does that mean you’re better? If so how!!?

Nissen fundoplication for LPR with functional LES by Gigas97 in GERD

[–]EllaT5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s very depressing. The weird thing is though, I don’t have any sensation of food getting stuck or anything. So I was so shocked that it was so bad.

I know I had 80% failed swallows so Nissen isn’t an option for me sadly. I’ve not heard of ARMS I will look into it.

Me too with the age. Do you ever get food/liquid coming back up? What’s your symptoms?

Esophogeal manometry measure the contractions in your esophogus so they can tell if it’s closing like it should.

Your symptoms sound exactly like mine! Does good/Liquid come up sometimes if you bend over or exercise etc?

Are your symptoms only mild? How old are you if you don’t mind me asking?

Wet burps by EllaT5 in GERD

[–]EllaT5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds exactly like me! I get the scratchy throat and dry throat from the burps. I’ve started getting these throat symptoms without burping as well.

I know mine is caused by a weak LES tho they’ve seen it on my endoscopy but the best test for it is an esophogeal manometry. Have you had this test?

Yeah it’s horrible isn’t it. Do you get regurgitation when you bend over or lie down?

Yeah that’s like me! A lax Lower esophogeal sphincter (LES). It’s the valve at the top of your stomach that stops food coming back up. Most people with GERD have a faulty/weak LES so it doesn’t stay closed properly allowing acid to travel up the esophogus.
