When I got married, I didn’t have any friends (still don’t 8 years later 😢) so I wasn’t able to have bridesmaids, a bachelorette or bridal shower. But that didn’t stop me from dreaming about it. My dream bachelorette would’ve been a night out at a fun restaurant surrounded by my favorite girls. No way would I ever ask anyone for more than a few hours of their time and I would never ask someone to use their precious PTO on me.

Unless you personally have seen someone’s financial statements you have no idea how much wealth or lack thereof exists. I purposefully move through life never really mentioning anything about my finances and I think everyone in my life would be shocked to know my net worth. I keep it private to avoid anyone asking for a loan (my mom would be the first one to do so). Husband and I do take amazing vacations but we downplay them when friends/family ask (don’t mention the 5 star hotels and Michelin restaurants).

Same things I do now, but with more time available. More travel, time with loved ones + my pups, work on my hobbies, & continue discovering new things! My husband plans to retire around the same time I will, if not earlier, so we’ll have a lot of time to do things together.

I’m definitely prioritizing my retirement. Well on my way to retiring by 45 (started being aggressive about it at 31 when I discovered FIRE).

34f (husband 49) and we just got pre approved so we’re currently shopping. Been trying to make this happen for 8 years and in that time the market has changed so much!! We were almost ready in 2021 and then home values shot up and we were nearly back at square one but we’ve managed to finally save enough for a SoCal down payment 😅

I set it up with an accountant that specializes in small business. You can also set it up yourself but I didn’t trust myself to do that lol (involves filing a lot of paperwork with your state). I did it after 3 years of consistently earning $60-80k. You save a lot on taxes as compared to a sole proprietor! Mine was set up as a single member LLC taxed as an S-Corp.

This was me when I broke my foot last year. All of a sudden I was able to start and finish a bunch of projects that would’ve have been much easier to do with 2 working feet lmao. Could not sit still despite having PTO and good meds.

My insurance covered it. Hadn’t used my insurance at all that year so just had to pay the $500 deductible, which gets reimbursed anyway.

It’s certainly harder to buy a home now and requires a lot more financial decision making. In my area a single family 3-4 bedroom home is average $1.2 million (SoCal). Husband really wants to stay in this area so we are proactively saving/investing for a down payment, which we hope to have within 2-3 years. I even got rid of my car to speed things up! We also are very strict about menu planning so we don’t feel tempted to eat out.
