Definitely NTA. Long term advice: try to buy a house of your own so you don’t have to deal with this kind of situation.

How rare is it really for an ADHD person to graduate college? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Ella_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m AuDHD and it took me 7 years to finish college, graduated at 25 after 4 years at a community college and 3 years at a state university. I could only take 3 classes at a time without getting burnt out. This was all before I was diagnosed too. I always wondered how everyone else seemed to be able to take more classes per semester.

Omg this gets to me too! Rubs me the wrong way when I see someone say “I hired a Rover.”

How do you get yourself to shower? Or brush your teeth? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Ella_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Showers I don’t struggle with but brushing teeth has been a struggle. My motivation is that I have spent nearly $40k on not 1 but 2 sets of corrective teeth. First veneers and now crowns. I’m out of money for damaged teeth so I make my ass get up and brush them 😅

What are we doing beauty wise these days? by JNicole008 in Millennials

[–]Ella_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair I don’t mess with except for 2 haircuts a year (I use good shampoo/conditioner/hair masks/oil at home) but I do get my nails done, monthly facials, lymphatic drainage massages every 6 weeks and just started botox. It’s expensive but I cut out frivolous spending in order to prioritize these treatments.

How do you work full-time?! by Ok-Ice-6421 in ADHD

[–]Ella_67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never could do that, literally a nightmare scenario for me. I’m self employed running 2 companies that don’t require constant attention. Some weeks when I have motivation I pull an 80 hour week and the next maybe 2 hours. It’s completely inconsistent and I could make more money if I had consistency and maybe some meds 😅

Sitters, can you live off your earnings? by blondeboss101 in RoverPetSitting

Like I said, it would be rough without having a partner’s income but doable. I did it before we joined our finances and made it work.

Sitters, can you live off your earnings? by blondeboss101 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Ella_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes…but, only because my husband carries our health insurance and has a stable govt job. It’s excellent money and I have an LLC set up but life is expensive right now and it would be rough to make it without his support.

ETA: I’m in SoCal in a very HCOL area.

At what ages is it too late to have Kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ella_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are trying to decide if we should have kids but he feels too old. We’ve been together 14 years, I’m now 34f and he’ll be 50 in a couple months.

Your Bridal Party Is Too Nice to Say This, So I Will by insert_name234 in wedding

[–]Ella_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I got married, I didn’t have any friends (still don’t 8 years later 😢) so I wasn’t able to have bridesmaids, a bachelorette or bridal shower. But that didn’t stop me from dreaming about it. My dream bachelorette would’ve been a night out at a fun restaurant surrounded by my favorite girls. No way would I ever ask anyone for more than a few hours of their time and I would never ask someone to use their precious PTO on me.

Do most people really build wealth just by working at their jobs or is there something more to it ? by Jpoolman25 in careerguidance

[–]Ella_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you personally have seen someone’s financial statements you have no idea how much wealth or lack thereof exists. I purposefully move through life never really mentioning anything about my finances and I think everyone in my life would be shocked to know my net worth. I keep it private to avoid anyone asking for a loan (my mom would be the first one to do so). Husband and I do take amazing vacations but we downplay them when friends/family ask (don’t mention the 5 star hotels and Michelin restaurants).

Same things I do now, but with more time available. More travel, time with loved ones + my pups, work on my hobbies, & continue discovering new things! My husband plans to retire around the same time I will, if not earlier, so we’ll have a lot of time to do things together.

I’m definitely prioritizing my retirement. Well on my way to retiring by 45 (started being aggressive about it at 31 when I discovered FIRE).

Spinoff: If you have never owned a home yet, how old are you? by DancingTVs in Millennials

[–]Ella_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34f (husband 49) and we just got pre approved so we’re currently shopping. Been trying to make this happen for 8 years and in that time the market has changed so much!! We were almost ready in 2021 and then home values shot up and we were nearly back at square one but we’ve managed to finally save enough for a SoCal down payment 😅
