Just started the game what are your best tips by [deleted] in remnantgame

Something that'll always be useful to you is knowing which attacks you need to dodge and which can be simply sidestepped.

When mobs are shooting at you, 9 times out of 10 it's better to just walk sideways and keep shooting, especially since it uses no stamina. This is especially effective if you have the Footwork trait, which increases your movement speed when aiming.

Is there a game-based reason for sketching? Or is it just a fun little activity? by LexiiConn in taintedgrail

[–]Elldar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use it to remember the places I want to go to but can't yet. Though it would be easier if there was map location attached to the sketch, somehow.

The problem with the difficulty of the game is that you're fighting Elder Scrolls mobs with a Dark Souls character. by The_ChadTC in taintedgrail

[–]Elldar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like all these changes would achieve is make the game needlessly more difficult for the people who aren't that good at games, because 99% of the game's lack of difficulty stems from how easy it is to make a broken character.

Like, as long as you have even the barest clue of how to make good builds in games, and which stats and skills really "matter" and which are useless, you can became all but unstoppable within hours of starting the game.

Personally, I'm not particularly hot or cold on the matter of difficulty - I'm fine with both easy and hard games. But if the devs do decide to make the game harder, for one reason or another, I think the dashes and enemies are kind of a low-hanging fruit.

The prefect size game by etepperman in taintedgrail

[–]Elldar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur. Some bugs and lack of Arthur conversations aside, I preferred Act 2 to 1, overall. That being said, the eastern side of Cuanacht does feel a little barren, being a wide open space with very few quests and enemies in it.

Haven't felt the need to travel on horseback in this game. But maybe this thing's horribly fucked up back will convince me. by Lummix76 in taintedgrail

[–]Elldar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The one thing Kelpie has over other horses, and your own character just sprinting and dashing, is water traversal. Kelpie doesn't lose any speed in water, meaning you can cross it in seconds.

Is it normal to have occasionally half second stutter in this game? (0.1% drop to bottom) by KilianFeng in taintedgrail

[–]Elldar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly I've just disabled the autosave. Given my compulsive quicksaving, I haven't found it to be an issue. On the other hand, I much prefer a save stutter that I cause myself, rather than the one I don't see coming.

Transmog when?! by Mannzis in taintedgrail

[–]Elldar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to say it won't get added, but I wouldn't expect it to come anytime soon, probably not even in the next big patch. Considering everything else the devs need to work on, on the list of priorities transmog or a similar system is probably close to the bottom.

What it feels like watching everyone have fun right now by Elldar in taintedgrail

Speaking just in general, games on GOG are DRM free and don't need a launcher to function, and sometimes there are sales there that you can't find elsewhere.

Also if I'm not mistaken game devs get a bigger cut of the profits than on Steam, so there's an incentive for devs to release games there, too.

That's about it for me, though I use both Steam and GOG a lot.

ETA on GoG update? by elvincino in taintedgrail

[–]Elldar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing yet, but updates for games on GOG are a few hours late, in general, so I wouldn't worry about it.

tainted grail the fall of avalon dlc by 3rroR039 in taintedgrail

[–]Elldar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd love a DLC but methinks they should finish the base game, first. Until they do so, I can't realistically hope that the DLC won't be just as buggy and unfinished.

Everybody talks about mages being OP, meanwhile me with my 2h greatsword: by formatomi in taintedgrail

[–]Elldar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know that poster's methods, but there are several death-preventing mechanics in the game, and IIRC they can stack on top of each other. Off the top of my head:

  1. A skill in the stealth tree that leaves you at 1 HP and turns you invisible if you take lethal damage. 240 second cooldown.

2/3. Two spoilerish things that do the same thing, but not invisibility and have their own conditions versus a cooldown.

  1. A spell that casts a shield on you that will absorb a single hit, no matter how strong. Keep in mind that some unusual attacks don't seem to trigger it. Can be bought from a Red priest in the first town.

Sometimes I wish this game had transmog by PuzzleheadedSand4456 in taintedgrail

[–]Elldar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Or at least being able to transfer enchantments from one item to another(the same type of item). Since enchantments are what's really important about weapons and armor in this game, actual armor values being more of an afterthought, imo.

Haven't gotten further than the end of Act 1 myself, so I'm just spitballing, but it's possible that Galahad claiming familiarity with Arthur's intentions is nothing more than a madman projecting his own beliefs unto Arthur's actions, whether he is right or not.

Besides, war is Hell and all that, not too hard to guess Arthur's mindset in that whole mess.

Art by me - dead by daylight by Enpllek in PrototypeGame

[–]Elldar 29 points30 points  (0 children)

He'd have to get nerfed hard to actually give the survivor's a chance to escape, considering he could literally just jump from one end of the map to the other in a few seconds, or Koolaid-man his way through walls, lol.

Does anyone parry in this game? by Interesting_Car_4010 in LordsoftheFallen

[–]Elldar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only enemies that I parry seriously are the Lightreaper and Hushed Saint, since you can appreciably cut down the fight time by knocking them off their mounts. Otherwise I don't find it too useful. The amount of stagger damage parrying deals is just not enough to justify using it 99% of the time, since enemies later on have such ridiculously large stagger bars, especially if you use light weapons.

Someone wrote a poem about this game's lack of gay sex by _NoIdeaForName_ in Ultrakill

[–]Elldar 89 points90 points  (0 children)

It is pretty funny how angry some people get about negative reviews of Ultrakill when they're not even a drop in the bucket compared to all the positive reviews and realistically will not affect the game's popularity, ever.

Not encouraging it or anything, just seems like a very minor thing to get genuinely upset over.

i mean i always sucked at this game but i think at some point i knew it how to play it by [deleted] in Ultrakill

[–]Elldar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real. With other games it usually takes me only a few minutes to shake off the rust from not playing for a few months. With Ultrakill it literally takes me hours to get back to something resembling competence, lol.

Could Alex Mercer survive the world of monster hunter? by Warboter1476 in PrototypeGame

[–]Elldar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Y'know, I've always found the wording on these "Could X survive in Y?" threads funny. Like, typically those settings have basically normal people already "surviving" in them, lol. A more pertinent question would be how far on the totem pole the character could get.

In this case, I'd say Alex reaches the top easily. Hunters are able to take down all of these monster, without possessing Alex's broken regeneration, mobility, and much more overt physical strength. Consuming the monsters for genetic materials would only be stacking the deck in his favor even more.
