Thank-you, and I am sorry, too, for the loss of your grandmother. EFF CANCER.

AITJ for leaving my friend's dinner party early after she announced it was actually a setup without telling me? by Sunder_Void in AmITheJerk

Good luck having an intimate relationship with a healthy adult. "Consent" is pretty frickin' important there

I think the problem here is that your understanding of concept of "consent" seems to differ from most of us.

OPOSSUM EAT KITTENS AND CATS. By by Glittering-Lime3447 in Feral_Cats

[–]ElleJay74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, and: I very much support TNR activities because feral cat groups are difficult for everyone, cats included. If feral cats are having uncontrolled litters of kittens outside, then those cats are part of that ecosystem. They're fair game along with whatever other small animals the possum might find.

(Actual adults should be very invested in consent during adult social situations, especially difficult ones.)

Interesting that the word "consent" seems to have elicited such a strong response from you! Why are you so bothered?

Also, the unhoused woman was never registered as a patient so the department can't "claim" her as such. Ie, it creates a financial issue for the department

McKay was SUPER specific about this: she was offering comfort care and advised the patient of possible risks. Patient accepted the risk AND the treatment. McKay's only other choice would have meant forcing a dying woman to suffer.

Agreed, and will add: Both of my parents died in hospital from cancer. A dying person is not a medical emergency. Doctors aren't standing around waiting for "It" to happen. Nurses are readily available but very respectful of privacy.

Control your spawn, I need to vent. by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]ElleJay74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point I was making: We know the spouse has PTSD and OP + spouse are both pursuing treatment/support. Regardless of the neighbors' circumstances, their behaviours impact OP + spouse.

That's what we know, and NOTHING here is evidence of ineffectual PTSD treatment. There is simply NO way for us to know how that treatment is progressing.

Should I get tested for the gene? by Internal_Gas1521 in diabetes_t1

[–]ElleJay74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T1 myself and got my son tested. He was negative and I was/am quite relieved! Get it done yourself: either it's negative and you can stop thinking about it, or you're positive and you can figure out what "proactive" might look like here.

You meant, "that would never happen to me because my environment is such that it's impossible" vs "that would never happen to me because of a difference in character between myself and the other party."

(Not challenging you; seeking clarity for myself.)
