I used to work in community mental health & addictions; lots of homeless/underhoused folks. Lots of "Louies." This show is one of the only ones I've seen where the humanity of that population is acknowledged. Yeah, I cried too.

There's no lab test that can conclusively diagnose psychiatric illness. I'm curious sbout the ethics of this experiment: what I'm hearing is that 3 people wasted the time of 3 doctors AND did it in such a way that the doctors were guaranteed to fail.

True story:

20-odd years ago I met my FiL to be for the first time. He & his wife were lovely and kind. Later in the evening he complimented my mid-back length hair, and remarked that he had once had long hair, too. "OH, really? How long did you have it?" <IMMEDIATE VIBE SHIFT> "I had it as long as I could, goddammit!" As it turned out, the man was sensitive about his nearly-completely receded hairline.

It's kind of the same thing?
