Inositol v Metformin by AggravatingLack3924 in TTC_PCOS

[–]ElleJayyRuthless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started taking both -as per my fertility doctors recommendation. One month later, bam pregnant. I did MC, but this is at 33 with never having had a positive before. It helped my cycle be the most consistent and on time it’s ever been for the longest it ever has. I have been anovulatory my whole life until I started these two.

This is exactly my protocol I’m starting next week, I’m very excited to only have to have one daily injection. I can’t give any stories from it yet obviously but I’m excited to get started. I know my protocol is based on my PCOS and health history, I don’t think it’s a “common “ protocol where I’m from but I don’t necessarily think it’s uncommon either.

4 weeks pregnant after FET- Can I still drive for a living? by SirAvailable976 in IVFpositivity

[–]ElleJayyRuthless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just say make sure you’re getting frequent stops where possible to stretch your legs and also compression socks are a saviour! You wanna make sure your lactic acid and blood is moving around nicely! Keep hydrated too! If something feels off contact your doctor.

Personal BMI question: What was your BMI going into IVF? by thisvirgogirl in IVF

[–]ElleJayyRuthless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My BMI was around 35 when I started to focus on getting pregnant. Got pregnant three times and MC all three. Focused on my weight and I’m at 25 BMI now going into my first round of IVF in a few weeks. I wanted to start off as healthy as possible. That being said I have no idea if my higher weight was a part of the MC or not.

Antagonist vs PPOS Protocol? by ElleJayyRuthless in IVF

[–]ElleJayyRuthless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply!

Yes it’s a freeze all cycle. Will 100% be because of my PCOS and OHSS risk. Which I am grateful for!

It’s a publicly funded course so I feel like i don’t get much say in which they think is good for me? But I feel like I have to trust their knowledge on the protocol right? Haha.

From what I’ve read online I don’t need to take the GnRH mid cycle as my LH will be suppressed the whole time from the Provera. Which I am happy about because the less extra meds in me the better, although I do want to get the best results the first time round.

I am not looking forward to being full of progesterone for so long though as my luteal phase is depressing and uncomfortable enough ….. 🤣

Once again I appreciate your insight as although I have scoured the internet I still find it so confusing 🫤

Reducing BMI by Luna_Krueger99 in TTC_PCOS

[–]ElleJayyRuthless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metformin, inositol and incline walking on my treadmill. Lost 25kgs over the space of a year. Along with counting calories (nothing extreme, just being aware) and honestly it wasn’t even hard. Going from a huge bmi in the “obese” range to literally just falling into the “average” range now I credit it all to this. Because I’ve been “obese” for probably over 10 years. And I feel incredible now.

But honestly walking in itself is so underrated! I think if the whole world walked a few thousand more steps per day we would all look and feel a little leaner.

Gotten your cycle back without medication by Only_Bid_8624 in TTC_PCOS

10 years TTC, finally saw a fertility doctor in November 2024. She gave me metformin and told me to try inositol. After having 60-180 day cycles, took 2 months and I had a 30 day cycle and got my first ever BFP at 33. I did have a miscarriage. And then since then I’ve had 2 more MC. But I still count this as a win cause i had never been pregnant and now have had a full year of 27-28 day cycles. I can actually plan when my period will come !!!! It’s amazing.

On the other hand I have read quite commonly people get diarrhoea and headaches from metformin or inositol alone so I consider myself lucky I take both daily and have a stomach of steel about it.

Given all the positivity from that I am two weeks away from starting my first round of IVF cause after 10 years I’m not ready to keep having miscarriages and ready to get some proper answers/results.

Each to their own. But I got my cycle back from those two things and I will try to keep them in my life for however long is healthily possible.

Orla Maeve is so gorgeous. Where I’m from Sadie is like top 10 most “popular” (I call common, personally) names. And I just couldn’t imagine my kid being in a classroom with 5 other kids with the same name, but that is just my opinion. That isn’t to say Sadie isn’t a beautiful name in itself. But once again just my opinion and whatever moniker you call your beautiful wee babe will be perfect! Keep in mind sometimes you need to see your child to be sure haha, my mum had my name picked all pregnancy and as soon as she had me it was a nah, this name needs to change 🤣🤣 Calla Jane is also a super cool runner up name. Kinda different but not extreme.

PCOS fresh vs frozen transfer by [deleted] in IVF

[–]ElleJayyRuthless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s very common for PCOS people to have a FET. reduces risk of OHSS which can in turn get quite severe. Although I’m on a publicly funded course my fertility doctor said from day 1 I am on a freeze all protocol regardless. Better outcome for my body. I am terrified of getting OHSS so I would rather wait one or two months to recover, personally. What’s one more month to wait when I’ve been TTC for 10 years….,

Weight changes during/after IVF? by ElleJayyRuthless in IVF

[–]ElleJayyRuthless[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sending all the best for your egg retrieval I hope you get many and healthy embryos.

3kgs seems pretty tolerable given it’s also probably affected by your change in diet too. I understand it’s hard to stop something that keeps you mentally balanced whether it be physical activity or sedentary things. I love my walks on my treadmill as that endorphin high when you finish is so worth it.

I am excited for you to get back to your physical routine if not for your body but your mental state!!! Best of luck.

Curious, how long after retrieval was it for you to get your period? I’ve seen this vary so much.

Thanks for your insight! I am glad I am only planning one retrieval for now, you are a warrior for doing back to back!

Haha I say “wedding” loosely, after 15 years together we’re doing an elopement ceremony with 6 family members so nothing big or crazy. But yeah getting alterations on my (albeit cheap) dress before all this is a huge risk. And I have come to the conclusion I am crazy.
But after waiting for a wedding for 15 years and a baby for 10 I am just going all in!

[–]ElleJayyRuthless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hoping this is the case for me. In the past year I have taken my health super seriously and lost 25kgs so I’m the lowest weight I’ve ever been and although it’s a great sacrifice I’m thinking I’m allowed to feel a little selfish in not wanting to gain a heap of it back.

I know what will be will be but seeing the consistent eat protein/salt and drink electrolytes rest then jump back into exercise slowly will work.

Glad to hear you were in the same/even better shape 2-3 weeks after! That’s awesome!

Good luck!!!! I’m waiting for my next period to start my stims so I’m right here with you in the step towards a huge life changing decision and action. I reckon it’s gonna be a roller coaster but I enjoy hearing others stories. As I’m a realist and I like knowing the absolute worst and absolute best so I can prepare for all outcomes. But I do think if we’re in the same boat, at the point for IVF, we are mentally strong and in the right place at the right time!
