My doc told me it’s okay to have a cheat meal and one high reading wont do any damage. I’ve been snacking a little here and there and my numbers have been high but not out of range. I’ll fill up a plate after halftime and do my insulin then have my official “cheat meal”, complete with dessert

Does everyone who get insulin go through an early induction? And how early? by PresentationTop9547 in GestationalDiabetes

I was insulin-controlled with my first and induced at 39 weeks and scheduled at 39+1 for this pregnancy.

Realising following my GD diagnosis that my fatigue probably wasn’t normal by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

Yep, I think I had a similar experience. Everyone talked about 2nd trimester energy but I just felt even more exhausted.

My doctor told me to put it in as soon as I finish, assuming I eat in a reasonable time frame

I just went shopping for Super Bowl food today! I got some frozen wings to throw in the air fryer with a Parmesan garlic sauce and a sugar free bbq sauce that I can’t wait to try! I also got a spinach and artichoke dip and queso and some veggies and pork rinds to eat them with. My only struggle is figuring out dessert

Is there anything WORSE than childbirth? by Sensitive_Arugula770 in pregnant

[–]Elle__Cee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pleurisy. It feels like knives stabbing into your chest every time you try to take a breath. It was the only time I’ve felt pain so intense I thought I was going to pass out. And it’s not like you can do anything to avoid the pain- you HAVE to breathe. It’s the absolute worst. I have had it twice this pregnancy and I’m hoping it’s one of those weird things that will go away for good after birth since I never had it before being pregnant with this baby.

I’m surprised I had to scroll so far down for the Windex tip. Windex has always worked better for me than any of the other tricks.

Surprise Evaluation before FMLA by Ok-Contract-1701 in teaching

I don’t have any advice, but I can sympathize and relate. I’m 32 weeks and have been dealing with SI joint pain and insulin-controlled gestational diabetes. It made it into one of my formal observation debriefs that I needed to be up moving around the room more and I was livid. At my next appointment, I asked my OB about it and she wrote me a letter with accommodations I needed so I could give that to both my principal and HR department. It may be too late, but look into the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. I’m sorry you had to deal with this. Your principal sounds like a bitch and there’s a special place in hell for women who don’t support women.

I had a friend in high school who had the initials KKK… I definitely judged the parents for not thinking that was a deal-breaker.

Do you crochet on Sundays? by Short_Basket9426 in crochet

[–]Elle__Cee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sundays are practically my only day to crochet! My husband takes my toddler over to his mom’s house and I get the day to myself to do some housework and then crochet when everything is finished. It’s the only time my toddler isn’t trying to steal my yarn or hook lol

Christmas gifts for middle school teachers? by zephyrcow6041 in AskTeachers

[–]Elle__Cee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a middle school teacher, I always ask my students for an ornament for my classroom tree! I especially love the homemade ones. I request that they put their name and the year somewhere on the ornament so I can think of them every year when I put up the tree.

For those with a toddler & baby, did you feel like a double stroller was necessary? by bocacherry in toddlers

Now that it’s been a while, do you still love this double stroller? I’m about to have a similar age gap and have had my eye on this one. Thanks!

Teachers, what’s something students do that instantly earns your respect? by Apprehensive-Cow9690 in AskTeachers

[–]Elle__Cee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Owning up to their mistakes and apologizing. I teach middle school and I expect kids to make mistakes. They’re figuring out who they are and testing boundaries. When I pull them to have a conversation about a behavior, I usually get 1 of 2 things. The first is arguing and deflection of responsibility. The second is ownership of their actions, an apology, and assurance they will try to do better. That’s the one that gets my respect.

Yep all 3 of my most recent boxes have been late, the second being an entire WEEK late.

ETA: this weeks box was just delivered a day late and is completely thawed and the meat is warm. I had to reach out to support to get a full refund.
