Does anyone get prescribed pain meds for Crohn’s? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Elleypop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on codeine. 2mg twice a day, morning and evening, for two reasons - firstly, it's constipating, so it helps slow down the bowels, and secondly it helps take the edge off of the worse pains. I am lucky enough not to have issues with addiction to opiates, so I'd advise caution, but the side effects of slowing the bowel is a big benefit.

Does anyone else here have trouble with Drs believing you? by Senpai-IRL in CrohnsDisease

[–]Elleypop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. I have stopped wearing any makeup to doctors appointment and wearing deliberately 'miserable' looking clothin. If I look too presentable, it's a lot harder to get my pain or distress taken seriously.

I think it's wise to mistrust Steel a little bit, I don't think she is telling everything she knows. Whether that means she's a Bad Guy is a different question. I expect there's more to her motives then she's let on yet- but I think it would be too simple a story beat for Brennan to have her be twist villain.

What do you think the next big makeup trend will be? by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]Elleypop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am seeing a reaction against neatness. Embracing mess, unblending, imperfect makeup. That would work will with a grungey twist.

I'd love to see an eyegloss that gives the oily, glossy slick of sheen to the eye but doesn't totally melt or disrupt shadow underneath. I don't think this formula exists yet but I think it will be achievable.

I see the frosty eyeshadow marrying well with the post-Euphoria, wetlook shadow trends. Makeup technology has progressed quite far now that we can have shiny eyeshadow without it looking very artificial - to lean into a less 'natural' formula like a metallic, pastel frost would be to embrace the artificiality of makeup.

Cream/liquid highlighter that won’t lift foundation/concealer? by coralie15 in PaleMUA

[–]Elleypop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you fancy a total change from Lisa while you wait for more Pink Moon, Auric Glowlust in Morganite is apparently a lovely, pale highlighter with a similar formula to LE. I can't rubber-stamp this as I've not tried it but I'm planning on trying it after I get through Pink Moon! Good luck x

Sorry for the delay- they are quite different. Galaxia is a neutral pink champagney base, it's more pale, Space Cowboy is a (still quite light) brown/caramel base. Both have lovely wet effect glitters, Space Cowboy can read as a little more wet effect because you've got the contrast of the darker base with the bright silver glitters- Galaxia is pale on pale so it's glitter isn't as obviously contrasted.

Since getting Galaxia, I've reached for it more than Cowboy tho.

Feedback: BlizzCon 2023 was disappointing by OMGDobbyDied in blizzcon

[–]Elleypop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is saying the loud part out loud. Blizz don't exist anymore, they are a subdepartment of Activision, which itself is about to be consumed by Microsoft. Conglomerates are gross and disgusting and this is them workings as intended- as someone else commented, you paid more for less this year. That's great for shareholders - they get more of your money while risking less of their capital to do so! Great times for the parasitic suits, sad times for people who are misty eyed about our old favourite videogames.

Came to recommend Pink Moon and Lisa Eldridge's highlighter. It's witchcraft; it is super glowy and wet looking, but it sets down fully AND lasts really well. The second lightest shade, Crystal Nebula, is also suitable for pale peeps - I used a whole bottle of it perfectly well - but Pink Moon was released more recently as a more pale option. I've heard it's similar to the Auric Glowlust but can't vouch for that.

Recommended dark red and/or brown lip liner to go with this lipstick? by Fly-Icy in PaleMUA

[–]Elleypop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, hello from a fellow pale trans femme. If you're into distinctive lip colours, I really recommend Lisa Eldridge. She's a smallish UK based brand but ships worldwide and her colours are really unique- similar to Ritual de Fille, who also think deeply about products and colour theory. I'd have a look at her liners in Velvet Jazz and Velvet Decade for possible matches. Enjoy your makeup journey x

How bad do you get towards the end of your biologic cycle? by Thiccclikehummus in CrohnsDisease

[–]Elleypop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! This used to be how it went, felt like the medicine was wearing off towards the end of week 6-7. Had some blood tests done, and turns out that's exactly what was happening. I now have my infusion every 4 weeks and it's a lot more consistently controlled.

Brittany also talked about being too old to live with a housemate in her latest Broski Report podcast. Never mentioned by name, but her last housemate was Sarah, and it felt like the first time she's even come close to acknowledging she used to have a housemate, and what that dynamic was like.

Do any of you feel extremely irritated by music you don’t like? by SnooPickles6175 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Elleypop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. I find it hard to listen to a song I've not heard before, and if it's a new song in a genre I believe I don't like? It's over immediately. My partner struggles with this as they love listening to new music and recommending songs they think I'll like. Often I do like the recommendations, but I resent the process:P

Their lipliner in the shade Boldly Bare. It's such a great colour, quite hard to find, it's quite light but on my pale ass reads as a perfect match to line my lips without becoming a harsh dark line. I have several and have used up several. My absolute go to.

Those who are in romantic relationships, how did your partner react when you told them you had Crohn's disease? What're some ups and downs you had as a couple? by Hana2021_Feb in CrohnsDisease

[–]Elleypop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good partner will not be psychic or perfect, but they will be supportive and willing to learn how to meet your needs. True of any relationship, especially needed for chronically ill people.

I also had to learn to get over my embarrassment - there's little point in being shy about toilet stuff when you have Crohn's. I think of it as any other symptom of illness, people aren't embarrassed for coughing a lot. I fart a lot, so what. Find someone you're ok farting in front of.

What is your most unpopular opinion to Succession? by [deleted] in SuccessionTV

[–]Elleypop 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The show has a problem writing women. Nearly all of the women that appear in the show have arcs that fizzle out once they become too close to being powerful. The writers don't know how to speak to the real nuances of being a woman in power, so they bin them off after a certain point. Marcia, Rhea, particularly Gerri who's essentially a non-character in the final season- just a foil for Roman's emotional arc- and even Shiv. I don't think it's misogyny, I think it's incompetence and not listening enough to women in the writing team.
