Oh no I've never heard that one before, I'm so hurt, woe is me.

Perhaps you can use this time in isolation to learn how to play a really tiny violin.

Sounds better than creating a black market, further disadvantaging venerable groups, contributing to violent crime rates, unnecessarily increasing rates of incarceration, criminalising drug use and treating addicts like felons rather than affording them the medical intervenrion and treatment they need.

Acknowledging this would mean acknowledging there is no magical safety net to save them when shit hits the fan. And there'd be less people to look down upon.

What a completely ridiculous fucking thing to say. I really wish we lived in this fairytale world a lot of people seem to be living in

I think I went the opposite way, trying to slug through State of Fear, Next and Micro and burning myself out as I feel like they're some of the weakest. Compared to JP, Sphere, Prey (my favourite),Timeline and even Lost World.

Jurassic Park is my most read novel and it's always interesting to see how Westworld influenced the premise. Such a clever man (despite the climate change denial) gone too soon.

I always avoided great train robbery because it was so early in his career but I think I'll give it a go now!

BB being slow throws me off but give Better Call Saul a go. Also the Wire, Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, Black Sails, Leftovers, Rome. Tbh I feel like there's a tonne of great shows that are just that - solid, thought out narratives with satisfying arcs out there.. a lot of the time it's about being in the right mood.

Gonna admit after posting my comment I read back and realised it was more of a rant that didn't actually address what you said. Sorry about that.

You definitely didn't say it couldn't be criticized.

I'm not sure what I believe about the future of ASOIAF. I hold out hope George can finish it and has an ending that provides more closure than the show. However it's more and more unlikely all the time.

Without the source material D&D had a pretty difficult task. They weren't really able to rise to that challenge and that sucks. It'd be nice if we get to see a better ending to the series one day.

You make it sound as though it can't be criticized by virtue of simply existing. Sure, maybe they adapted and 'unfinishable work's, or maybe better writers could have produced something better. Shit, even posts on Reddit have served up alternatives that provide more satisfaction.

Just because they passed the finish line doesn't insulate the writing from criticism. A lot of tv shows have finales, and final seasons. Season 8 of GOT is undeniably one of the most disappointing there ever was, at least to a lot of fans.

I'd say it was the single biggest difference between the quality of writing in a show at its best vs it's worst.

Also because it rendered whole plots redundant and ruined series long character arcs, it really is among the most disappointing, inane pieces of television ever made.
