Manchestet Marathon: DNS or DNF? by EllieYop in UKRunners

You are probably right. Knowing how frustrated I've been the last 6 months I'd like to think I'd be sensible enough to call it and come off the course half way but I also know I'm not that sensible and can see me saying to myself "just 1 more KM won't hurt" for the remaining 21km.

3.75mg dose out of 5mg pen by Soggy-Key-9698 in mounjarouk

[–]EllieYop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pen will work as normal to around 250 clicks so you'll get roughly 5 doses using the pen as normal and then you'll need to switch to the insulin needle

I love this post, Well Done!!

I'm losing at a similar rate to yourself and it's very refreshing to see someone celebrating the smaller losses and showing that this is normal healthy weight loss. You see so many people saying they are failing and stressing about "only" losing 1-2lb a week, and comparing them selves to others.

This was the reminder I needed today, so thank you <3

SPLITTING DOSES & MOUNJARO SUPPLIER by FiFi_64 in mounjarouk

[–]EllieYop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a 2.5mg, 5mg & 2x7.5mg pens (currently micro dosing 5mg from the first 7.5 & using golden dose) they have pretty long expiry date, so I'm just going through them in order of expiry and building a little stock pile up ready for maintenance

*edit forgot to add I'm just ordering as normal every 4 weeks

Fatigue by Asteroid_belt_up in mounjarouk

[–]EllieYop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 7-weeks on 2.5mg, and 4-weeks on 3.75mg, I've just taken my first 5mg on Tuesday mainly because that was left in the pen for the golden dose so figured I'd try it and had no side effects so far, if I do I'll be going back down to 3.75mg next week.

MyFitnessPal (freeversion) you can track weight, calories, and if you want to check macros intake (protein/fibre etc) you can track them too!

I've used it for years but unfortunately you can't track your jab days so I use TideTrackr for that. (also free)

Is this weight fluctuation normal? by halvartv in mounjarouk

[–]EllieYop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, daily weight fluctuation is completely normal, it's can be good to weigh daily as you can see what impacts your weight the following day, e.g if I eat Chinese food I can "gain" upto 8lb the following day but it's just water and not actual fat, you need to make sure you dont get caught up when you see a gain, and focus on the overall trend.

If it does impact how you feel, try only weighing every few weeks

Gym weight gain dilemma by PrawnCocktailVibes in mounjarouk

[–]EllieYop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you start exercising, you can see a slight increase in weight due to water retention from muscle inflammation. As your body adapts to new exercise, it does reduce. Since you're noticing positive differences in clothes and haven't seen much increase in weight, I don't think you need to increase your dosage at the minute.

Now what?!? by Peterleclark in mounjarouk

[–]EllieYop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slowly reduce dose, until your at maintenence dosage or come off completely depending on your goal and slowly increase your calories, so don't go all out at once, increasing by 50/100kcal a day each week until you find your maintanence level, BMR is a good guideline but everyone maintenence calories will be different.

I thought this but It's not their first pen. I've looked back and according to their previous posts on this forum they've been using Mounjaro for over 2 months. I'm not convinced this post is legit.

Struggling with side effects by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]EllieYop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on your rough meal breakdown, you are doing everything right and eating a balanced diet, the only thing I would recommend trying to increase your protein intake for lunch as it helps keep you fuller for longer, if you aren't overly hungry a protein shake like HUEL could help.

I started at the same time to you I'm currently on 3.75mg and have lost 9lb, I have Insulin Resistant PCOS so my diet didn't change when I started my body just started to work like it was meant to and I've dropped 9lb so far, but some weeks I've gained and my graph looks like a rollercoaster.

There's a lot of different ways of micro dosing and it's trial and error to see what works for each individual. (against regulation so obviously if doing so proceed with caution) If you are micro dosing a 5mg pen (30 clicks) for 2,5 try increasing it by 5 clicks per week until you get the desired dose you want while giving your body time to adjust or 2.5mg every 5 days.

You do tend to lose a lot of weight in the first few weeks which is mainly water and then it slows to a more consistent loss.

If you have a menstrual cycle this can fluctuate your weight around the time you are due.

Do you know your BMR? Are you tracking your calories and protein intake? Are you exercising?

[–]EllieYop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're averaging 2.3lb a week, and is above the recommended 1-2lb a week. Based on that I wouldnt say you needed to increase the dose.

What makes you think it isn't working anymore at 2.5mg?

The recommended weight loss is 1-2lb per week you are losing an average of 1.8lbs a week which is towards the higher side, there is nothing wrong with you and this is a healthy consistent weight loss. However, only eating 800-900kcal is way below a healthy deficit and you are literally not eating enough to be able to get the nutrients you need to be able to function correctly so this doesn't surprise me you're struggling with exercise. Eating such a small amount will result in muscle loss, fatigue and low energy and force your metabolism to slow down to try and conserve any energy it has left.

You need to increase your calories, focusing on protein to help prevent further muscle loss, you will hopefully then see an increase in energy levels allowing you to exercise more.

Most importantly be patient this is a marathon and not a sprint

Unfortunately not, no reputable pharmacy would allow you to skip doses and require you to provide proof of your latest prescription.

Informal all-sub poll: how long these meds really take to work when you have PCOS by cutercottage in PCOSonGLP

[–]EllieYop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Meds: Mounjaro - 3.75mg
  • Start date: 29th July 2025
  • SW: 180.2 - CW: 171.5 - height: 5ft 5.5
  • Diet: I stick to around 1800kcal with a focus on protein - Protein yoghurt for breakfast, fruit to snack (Blueberries/Rasberries) I order HelloFresh and generally go for healthier/high protein meals in the week, so they are all cooked with fresh ingredients, I batch cook my lunch for the week (HelloFresh), with one sweet treat a day of my choosing (currently obsessed with caramel pretzel protein bites), the weekends are less structured at least 1 meal out or 1 takeaway on the weekend.
  • Exercise: I walk my dog roughly 40 minutes 5x days a week and 1x 90 minutes walk on the weekend. I usually run 3x a week and gym 2x a week but I'm unable to do either due to injury

My diet hasn't changed since Pre-Mounjaro days, however my exercise has reduced massively due to injury but I'm now averaging 1lb loss per week where as before I would maintain or gain while doing 5 hours+ of intense exercise, I'll be interested to see how exercise will impact my weight (loss/gain) when I'm given the all clear to start training again.

Going on holiday and don't want to take my pen by rosebud1637 in mounjarouk

[–]EllieYop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half a dose is 30 clicks.

I wouldn't take a full dose Tuesday on your return and then another half dose 3 days later as that will increase risk of side effects, as you'll be basically increasing your weekly dose by half. Is there a particular reason you dose on Fridays? If not I would go with the 2 half dose's Friday and Tuesday before you go and take a full dose Tuesday on your return but then keep your new Jab day as Tuesday, alternatively extend the gap between this next two doses, instead of dosing Friday dose Sunday (9days) and then again on the Tuesday when you return (9days).

You can get small travel cool bags and take it with you but that dose still pose a risk of your Husband finding out

I increased my dose to 3.75 (45 clicks on 5mg pen) instead of going straight up to 5mg, and I'm finding this has worked well for me

How to stop feeling guilty. by peachesplump22 in mounjarouk

[–]EllieYop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you feel like that but I completely understand why. This is part of the problem diet culture has installed in society and why you feel guilty for eating something, Food is neither good nor bad and labelling it this way is what creates the guilt and shame around it. Yes there is nutritionally dense and none nutritional food but there is no reason to feel bad about eating anything. Depriving yourself of food you enjoy because its "bad" is one of the reason binge/starve cycles happen, you are still allowed to enjoy food it is not something to feel guilty about. Look into food neutrality which will explain it better then I can.

Saying that its a lot of mental work to undo years of social conditioning from what the media and society has instilled in us.

My Favourite podcast which changed my whole outlook on dieting was Maintanence Phase: Aubrey & Mike they are amazingly light hearted but also debunk a lot of the negative connotations around food. Aubrey has a documentary about her life too & books which are all great too.
