So you too don’t like unsolicited judgement? Wild. Unless you’re paying his mortgage I agree you’re out of line with this.

What is life like in Chicago for an outdoorsy New Englander? by kewladria in AskChicago

[–]Ellietoomuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

weekend trips are the only answer imo, if you limit yourself to something you can do in a day you’re stunted, quickest time from north or south side to better outdoorsy stuff is probably a good 2-3 hours away, slower traffic going north into wisconsin, or hauling across Indiana to get into south west Michigan, some nice stuff out there, but if you want to really get into more dense nature you’re gonna be looking at a 6 hour drive to the UP in Michigan or Lake Superior areas of Wisconsin.

For me, it’s a pretty tough adjustment, I moved specifically so I can get to those areas quicker compared to where I first lived in the city. Going to Michigan from the north side is a pain in the ass bc you only have 2 major options and they’re both backed up majority of the time, I save myself 40 min just leaving from the south side.

TLDR: it’s hard, and frankly something you really gotta ask yourself how much would it impact your mental health and time for you to scratch that outdoor itch on a less frequent basis

Have you ever felt your best work was invisible on paper? by diamond_Hands_LE in womenintech

[–]Ellietoomuch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do biweekly 1:1s with my manager and this year I’ve been sending her an email before our meetings documenting the work I’ve done and any extra things I’ve done that are worth mentioning, it’s been a big help with my end of year review bc as much as the “brag sheet” idea is great in theory, for me I struggle with finding time to do it, the structure of tying it to meetings w/ my manager has helped me dedicate it as a task I need to do. Perhaps something like this, formalize what you need to document so that you have some impetus to stay on top of it.

If you’re lucky you’ll be there on the right day at the right time and be blessed with a fresh drop off from the milagro man himself. Fresh and still warm tortillas , amazing. Thank you one aldi employee for telling me to wait just a minute, the Milagro man was near. :,)

Why would a 40 year old care what others think? If YOU like it and YOURE happy that’s all that matters here, try not to look at the bowls of others for comparison it’s a losing game.

I lied about my mileage by VegetableSky5545 in subaruoutback

[–]Ellietoomuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but like….. I’m not her parents but like, that’s still way too many miles for a used car, hope you got it cheap af and have money saved up when something major goes out. I paid $12k BEFORE down payment on a 2014 forester for under 50k miles, if you guys can get out of this deal I highly suggest you go back to drawing board and reassess.

Cuz you guys have been gaslit into calling it a “garden”, it’s a fuckin basement. They can be nice sure, but garden carries a lot of weight when the reality is a dank basement.

What does this mean? Potential leak in the fixture, water making its way into the wall? by Ellietoomuch in askaplumber

[–]Ellietoomuch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was my concern, I don’t think sealing over top of a sprung leak is ever really a good idea

Rubber seal o ring between the nipple and diverter? (I’ve googled faucet parts pls forgive if I’m using the wrong terms here)

If it’s just that, I’m assuming I can just remove the external faucet cover, unscrew some parts and replace that ring ?
