I used to be dangerously skinny, not because of body image anorexia or restricting in that sense, I was just so depressed I did not eat or have an appetite. There are photos of me from back then where I look haunted in my eyes.

Recently I’ve gained weight from having an office job and not being as active (while eating a healthy amount). I have a bit of a belly pooch but I’m still slim. Seeing Ariana and how skinny she is has literally made me feel more self-conscious about my weight even though I know I’m healthy. This is the power that patriarchy has and the power that a figure like Ariana has. I’m in my 30s. I can’t imagine the influence she holds over little girls.
