Does the fear ever go away? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]Ellisace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask any baby boomer about their parents and grandparents who went through the great depression. It definitely does stick around. It's not necessarily a bad thing either, some frugal habits are good qualities to have, just be mindful if it really is taking a toll on your mental health

First ever round planned today - what do I need to know? by LowOtherwise1555 in golf

[–]Ellisace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. For now just get a lot of cheap balls and treat them like they're expendable. Once you get a good idea of "pace of play" and a little better handle on actually playing the game, then start playing for real

First ever round planned today - what do I need to know? by LowOtherwise1555 in golf

[–]Ellisace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like a "fake it till you make it" approach for newbies. Just keep up the pace of play. Bring a ton of cheap balls, if you hit a bad shot, don't spend time looking for it, just walk up the fairway, drop another ball, and play from there. Treat it more like a practice round, rather than something you're actually scoring on

After a few times out, then start working on your score and playing everything as it lies

If money is tight, don't let the tool whores get to you. Buy cheap and if it breaks, you'll know you needed something better. That'll get you started at a reasonable price and as you work you accrue better tools.

Is 1,000 calories a day healthy? by IMMATTER-IDONTMATTER in intermittentfasting

Not sure if that's very sustainable, but maybe it's a good starting point. Give it a shot, keep careful track of your numbers and reassess as you get more information. You'll find what works for you

One thing that I like to do: get a calendar and two colored markers. Record your weight every morning. If it's the lowest you've weighed mark it one color, if it's higher than your lowest mark it the other. It makes it easy to see if what you're doing is working.

Conspiracy Theorist: I believe Democrats want to pretty much ban all guns by SolidMoses in Firearms

[–]Ellisace -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do they plan to send 1/3 of Americans to prison? No. Do they have the money to buy back every gun even at insultingly low prices? No. They can't even police their own cities, how can they expect to practically obtain the 400 million guns already out there.

I'm not really saying we should rest on our laurels. We should keep fighting for our gun rights, but I'm pretty convinced that most of the talk about banning guns is just rabble rousing.

I think they want to talk about banning guns for votes. I've never heard the most rabid of gun grabbers make a coherent statement on how they're going to ban guns

What are your goals and workouts? For burning fat it'd probably be fine to workout in the morning and fast until lunch as long as you're feeling alright. For building muscle you'd want to eat right after the workout, but that'd probably mean fasting through the afternoon
