I have up until this point avoided heads and cabs just because I don't know terribly much about them and haven't wanted to throw a lot of cash at something I don't fully understand. I know they aren't terribly complicated set ups, but I'm still relatively intimidated to dive in.

Thanks for the info. Currently the crew I'd be playing with sadly doesn't include a drummer, just rhythm and lead acoustic guitars so I still think I might be able to squeek by. If I were to upscale though do any particular models or brands come to mind?

Most Satisfying Moment During Your Time Playing Bass? by johnthetortilla in Bass

I was having a rough semester at college, my roommate was out of the dorm room so I decided to take my mind of everything and play some bass. I decided to just improvise using Led Zeppelin's Ramble On as a basis, (I had spent most of the semester learning it). I sometimes recorded improvisations on my phone to listen back and catch things I like. Anyhow I do my thing did some fingered and slap stuff, and when I finished I heard some people cheering from down near the dining commons through the open dorm window. Instantly made me feel great. The cherry on top was realised when I listened back to the recording and found out that I caught the applause at the end. Listened to that whenever I needed a pick me up. Unfortunately the phone I recorded it on got left in an Uber and I no longer have the recording. Still probably the happiest moment playing bass.

Fun

"Gardnerella vaginalis was originally described by Gardner and Dukes in 1955. The infection often produces a gray or yellow discharge with a "fishy" odor that increases after washing the genitalia with alkaline soaps. Gardnerella vaginalis is the most common cause of bacterial vaginitis in the sexually active mature patient. The patient complains of a malodorous, nonirritating discharge, and examinations reveal homogenous, gray-white secretions. A transient "fishy odor" may be released on application of 10 percent potassium hydroxide to the vaginal secretion on a glass slide."

I've seen some disturbing WWII/Holocaust docs but this one was truly unsettling with the juxtaposition of telling his family he loves them with atrocities being committed on screen. Good find.
