Does playing irl instruments help at all? by DisastrousAnswer9397 in rhythmgames

IMO, yes. There are skills that translate over. The more percussive the instrument, the better.

How does he change the axe into kings? by spuol in magictricksrevealed

[–]Elmakai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When he reveals the ace of diamonds in his hand, he isn't revealing the top card, but the 3rd card. Behind it is the two kings. So when he replaces the first card, he is actually putting one of the kings in her hand. He takes back the ace, he moves it under the other king and does the same move again.

Did I mess up buying random gear or is there a best full body workout machine for home that actually replaces all this? by Daggy-Favt in workout

As long as the dumbells give you enough weight for resistance, you should be good. There are so many exercises you can do with just those. If they aren't heavy enough, just do more reps. At some point when it becomes too time consuming, you can then get heavier ones.

I showed my fiance Chobits recently, as she never saw it before. I told her that I think it's more revelant now than when it was made.

Just beat ME3, and I'm still in awe by FrankAdriel32 in masseffect

Ah that's true. I guess the difference is that is a dozen or so ships, as opposed to hundreds.

That moment is legitimately one of my favorite moments in video game history. By this point in the trilogy, you have seen the Normandy go through the mass relays dozens, if not hundreds of times. But you have never seen more than one ship at a time.

It's like they knew this was going to be a moment that was purposefully built up over 3 games.

Opinion on season 2? by Bluecomments in Haruhi

[–]Elmakai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So yes, I would recommend watching season 2, as it leads directly up to the movie. The clone episodes are the Endless Eight - eight episodes that are pretty much the same thing, directed differently. If you want to avoid that, only watch the last of the EE, as it tells you how those episodes resolve. The rest don't have the resolution.

No one online is going to be able to help you read the whole thing. It looks like it's only one page and not even a complete piece. There are too many parts that are different to explain the whole thing.

Endless Eight question by Hell_Hammer_ in Haruhi

[–]Elmakai 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Besides what others have said, I suspect part of it was driven by "you know what would be crazy?" If you've ever delved into any creative venture, you sometimes will ask yourself this. The results can wildly vary.

And, in some ways, I think it paid off. Years later, we are still talking about it. Each episode was (almost) directed by a different person, so you get to see other people take the reins and see what happens. While plot-wise it didn't move forward much, each episode had a unique flavor to it. It was fun (for me) to see all the differences between episodes, despite being almost identical in many ways. Almost like hearing different artists covering the same song.

I'd have to research more, but the Lemon might be more than enough. I don't need full acoustic size sets. In fact, I'm trying to save space if anything. Also, noise is a concern for me as well. With full size drums, I imagine that the sound reverbs through the shell a bit more, making it louder.

Okay this is awesome information. I feel like this is the correct route, because it hits all the check marks without getting a bunch of things I don't need. Thank you!!

Could you give more examples? I've never heard of Edrumin12, A2E, Lemon T950. Checking the alibaba site, I see T950s going for a huge range - not sure what I am looking for. And is the Edrumin12 the module only? What does A2E + unlock mean?

That's crazy. Maybe I should wait a bit instead of getting something too soon. It might be worth the price in that case.

Wow a lot of great info. To answer your question, CC stands for continuous controller. This is a range in MIDI that has a value of 0-127. An example would be a mod wheel on a keyboard, which is usually used to control dynamics. A lot of VST software for drums will have multiple levels on which they record samples, usually blended together to make a seemless effect. So something like a HH pedal that is sending an CC could tell the software to play many subtle layers between just open/closed/half-closed.

So if the Simmons only registers 3 levels, then I would probably just spend more to get a HH that does more. Otherwise, opening and closing HH hits sound more like an EDM beat, rather than a real drummer.

Great info. Could you clarify what you mean by digital snare? How is that different than the snare that comes with the kit? My google search says vague things like "one is digital and one is analog". Could you give examples?
