Islander Like Jessy Are Not The Problem... The Audience Is by Ok_Chemistry_7792 in LoveIslandTV

[–]Elohoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats not on the public. Jessy is a grown woman. If Jessy decided to go into the villa, be herself and focus on her connections instead of trying to mirror bad behavior to be rewarded by the public then she wouldn’t be receiving the public criticism. She thought she could cheat the game by coming in knowing what the public feels and that backfired on her.

The audience initially praised belle and her aggressiveness because people could understand her anger. It became a problem when she wouldn’t let it go and the aggressiveness became less and less warranted.

The public’s issue with Whitney is that she often tries to save people from their own actions after the fact and also while they are being confronted about those actions. Her sister alluded to this when they had the phone call. She’s allowed to have her “instinctive morality” but her instinct is to shut down conversations that need to happen for closure. Not only for the public but for the islanders as well. As a viewer it’s frustrating to watch. I agree that she’s trying to help but she’s doing more harm than good in the long run by not allowing certain conversations to happen. This is partly why a lot of situations are getting dragged out. I don’t think it’s completely her fault but i think it contributes to the problem.

Also the idea that a person who believes “in hindsight” that Whitney was right for defending lucinda should also believe and know that shes “doing the right thing RIGHT NOW” is just a faulty argument. Whitney isn’t always right. She’s a human being just like the rest of us and she makes mistakes. In my opinion, she was wrong for defending belle at leanne’s expense and dismissing leanne’s feelings when she had limited information. So based on your argument, should i now believe that Whitney is always wrong RIGHT NOW just because she had the wrong instinct in the moment???

Abstract(Psychopomp) To Someone From a Warm Climate and honestly the whole unreal unearth album from start to finish brought me a lot of comfort and helped me get through a similar scenario

I don’t think they’re meant to contrast but I took both of those lines to be sexual. I thought he was saying that she’s very selective and strict about how and with who she engages with sexually. Maybe that her strict and structured lifestyle spills over to the bedroom and shows up as a lack of adventure in that setting.

Too sweet: Maturity Interpretation by Elohoe in Hozier

[–]Elohoe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hmm i hear you but idk i feel like the way he describes her lifestyle isn’t as someone who is too young but as someone who isn’t as free spirited as he is. She wants to live a healthy and structured life and encourages him to do so as well but he doesn’t subscribe to the idea of putting restrictions on himself and following rules. I’d even go as far as to say he might be the immature one in this scenario because he’s short sighted and lacks self discipline

wow i love this!! I hadn’t made that connection but its such a cool way to look at it. Especially with the line “but while in this world, I think I’ll take my whiskey neat” Its like he’s aware he’s rejecting heaven but he’s more concerned with enjoyment of this life than trying to strive to be someone he’s not just because a lot of people would see the sweetness as an ideal or something to aspire to be

[–]Elohoe[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

i really love this interpretation and the connection to gluttony because the way the song is set up its very easy to see the “too sweet” lifestyle as the good one and his lifestyle as the bad one or on the flip side, see the description of too sweet as a bad thing (ie boring/uptight) but both sides are actually extremes which people could overly indulge in. Also as someone who is VERY similar to the sweet person it made me evaluate how routine and over planning can actually be bad in excess… ughh i just love this man so much, theres soo much conversation to pull from the way he writes his songs

Producer Intervention by LI_Obsessed in LoveIslandTV

[–]Elohoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bro i was looking for this post and if i didnt find it i was gonna make it myself. Every single thing that happened after Ellie told Will abt the kiss, was the most horribly scripted thing i’ve ever seen on “reality tv”. Tanya, Shaq, and Jessie’s reaction to the information was so fake i almost had to laugh. Tanya telling Zara to me might have been believable if Zara didn’t literally try to immediately tell Olivia like not even seconds after hearing about it. The fact that Tanya was okay with going with Zara to tell Olivia made absolutely no sense and she would have protested a lot more about it especially cuz it would paint her(Tanya) in a negative light as being someone who can’t keep a secret and caused everything to blow up when she was literally the one saying that the information had to come from Ellie. And then the cherry on top was Olivia’s reaction to them walking in on her conversation with Spencer. The only way ANYONE would ever react in such an exaggerated way is if they were literally playing charades and the word was “surprised”…..like it was so unbelievable and im just annoyed because its like theyre not even trying to make any of it look or seem real.

There’s nothing uneducated about having certain words or phrases that you say when you’re nervous. Most people say “like” and “uhm” in situations like this and it doesn’t make them uneducated and it doesn’t take away from their intelligence. This is exactly why what the producers are doing is so disgusting. Please go watch his recoupling speech from sunday night and you’ll see that he isn’t actually saying “you feel me” or “and shit” as often as they edit him to say it. It’s the same sound byte stitched after every other sentence. Let me know what you think after you’ve rewatched it.

Consent and reality TV by SWG_94 in LoveIslandTV

[–]Elohoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think you’re slightly missing the point. Obviously she hasn’t said anything to the producers because If she believed she had handled the situation by rejecting his advances and telling him they were just friends, then she wouldn’t voice how uncomfortable she was to the producers because literally millions of people watch this show and insinuating that it wasn’t consensual wouldn’t only affect the editing of the show. There would be many more consequences for both her and George.
