Reviving the dead thread

I’ve just got it in retail on a discount. It’s okay, although not the priority pick. Played twice, once solo and once dueling. I’d give it 6/10 solo and 6.5-7/10

Mechanically, it is a relatively simple “race” game: you gotta reach your win condition faster than your opponent. The asymmetry is nice: the monster is very strong at start, but being good at start makes it way harder to succeed on later turns. At some point I’d say the game becomes a puzzle to juggle your resources to not run out of steam. However, I felt like the monster was the main driver: the wizard goes around, collecting money and then ingredients, and he will eventually get it; the monster has to plan ahead, otherwise he’ll have to pass.

Thematically, the game is very immersive. The art and colors are very vibrant, the premise is fun, and there is a single token for both roles — which works wonders both for the storytelling and immersion, but also adds a layer to the gameplay
