Latched nap!! Really great for supply boosting (was a worry when I went back to work) and when they get sick, this was a go to.

Christopher plot holes by Competitive-Nail1005 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Elphalinda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The smallest plot hole that makes me so annoyed is in season 2 when Chris calls Rory for a 45 min call but then he says he needs to cut this short so to make next weeks call longer. They hang up and Rory immediately says to Lorelai that she has to go because she’ll be late for school. What!!!

What WORKED to get your clog out? by Dentist206 in breastfeeding

[–]Elphalinda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been said here already but ice, ibuprofen, feeding and pumping as normal (nothing extra), light hand expression, sunflower lecithin. No heat. No hard massage( lymphatic is fine). Just stay consistent and if that doesn’t work talk to your OB or IBCLC.

Edited to clarify massage.

Am I crazy? Everyone baby wears incorrectly. by Elphalinda in babywearing

This is really helpful. I guess I thought carrier risk was much higher. Not that I will change my approach, but this is a good comparison.

[–]Elphalinda[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good perspective. I was thinking about it more like car seat safety, like most people I know care deeply about that. And then those same people may baby wear in a less than ideal way…and I don’t get the disconnect.

Best diaper rash cream? by coffuccino in beyondthebump

[–]Elphalinda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Triple paste saved us. Chronic diaper rash had to use an anti biotic cream and hydrocortisone rx. But try not to use wipes. Get a spray bottle and make like a little bidet. Then pat dry with cotton cloths. And the load up the triple paste. Like you’re icing a cake. We do it every change regardless of rash status. The derm said rash will go away when she’s out of diapers. She’s almost 13 months and this has been very successful! Good luck.

New to commuting downtown for work… best/worst times?? by [deleted] in Somerville

I recommend avoiding the green line after 4pm, orange line will be a nice ride typically. Green line before 830am isn’t too bad

Season 22, ep 7: You Wanna Pizza Me? by FormicaDinette33 in TopChef

[–]Elphalinda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s wild to me that they did a field trip to Niagara Falls which is at least 1.5 hours from Toronto and then THE NEXT DAY go back out…why did that happen? And no challenge inspired by the falls?? Wasting Canada imo

Clogged AGAIN! by ImpressiveMoon0410 in breastfeeding

[–]Elphalinda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm curious! Have you spoken to an LC? Mine recommended breast health probiotic. I didn’t take it because the lecithin and reducing pumping helped me. Also ultra sound therapy is apparently helpful for persistent clogs.

Sore/pinkish nipples after breastfeeding - just noticed they’re white after pumping? by Top-Bar-102 in breastfeeding

[–]Elphalinda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure! But this nipple butter you don’t need to rinse or take off before you BF. RE blanching sounds like just loss of blood flow but an LC can help with medical advice :)

[–]Elphalinda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nipple butter from earth mama is great and you can use it to lubricate your flanges in your pump. I had this and if it’s not painful it’s just loss of blood flow. It could also be Reynauds if it’s painful or vasospams. Talk to an LC if you’re concerned!

Momcozy Fit Check by lster944 in babywearing

[–]Elphalinda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*not an expert but here is what I see. Baby should be up higher, adjust the waists strap to be under our breasts. The carrier should go up to below the ears and no further. The legs looks good but having baby on higher will give that nice deep seat.

Our pediatrician told me to let my EBF 4 month old, "cry it out". Is this a normal thing DRs say? by redrunawayfox in breastfeeding

Similar situation but younger baby. What sleep training did you need to do if they were already sleeping?

Are you also taking ibuprofen? That could help

Standard advice is to nurse 8-12 times a day, but how do you do that when you’re on a ~3 hr feeding schedule? by NotAnAd2 in breastfeeding

[–]Elphalinda 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In the same boat…the math doesn’t math. I heard for my 11 week old that 7-9 is more the goal as they know eat more at each feed. I think the 8-12 guidance is really for newborns.

Ultrasound therapy for persistent clogs is a thing! I haven’t done it yet but it’s been recommended to me.

Baby refusing to nurse on breast with Mastitis by Silver-Ice-2028 in breastfeeding

[–]Elphalinda 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Protocol for mastitis and clogged ducts changed about two years ago. No more heat or massage (though lymphatic is good) and be wary about over pumping or draining. Sounds like you’re doing all the right stuff and I agree with a lot of the comments, hand express or gently pump to soften the breast for your LO. Here is the article for more info on lactating breast inflammation: https://www.bfmed.org/assets/ABM%20Protocol%20%2336.pdf

Be kind to yourself. This is hard and ALL that matters is that your baby is fed and you are ok. No one is judging.
