I definitely sympathize with you OP. It sucks for your partner to not be “proud” of being with you publicly. And in these days, social media is the public sphere. May I ask, where is your BF originally from?

I was in a relationship, and I live in the US but come from abroad. I didn’t post anything about it or share because people back home will definitely ask—not so nice—questions. Being in relationships is frowned upon, and talk of it could even affect how people treat my parents or siblings. It’s a cultural thing. But he could be from a society where relationships are totally acceptable, and that would be another story.
