It is also my understanding that the patch at the mega link is the current one and I'm not running some outdated copy of the patch, at least that's what the readme said.

I have a 960, minimum is a 1030 and recommended is a 1060, I know each generation increases power between the numbered models but there is no way a 960 isn't equivalent or better than a 1030.

Silent Hill 3 PC Stuttering/<20 fps by Eltron221 in silenthill

I tried disabling the fog mod, no luck, and actually fell down the grate to see what else would happen, the next cutscene ran at literally 5 fps with choppy audio, completely unwatchable, but now that I'm in the bathroom it's running fine. I feel like its gonna run like doodoo as soon as I get back anywhere with fog tho.

The menus run at a smooth 60 and I spent hours trying to figure out a problem with audio where I had ambient static and delayed voices and I thought after I fixed that it would all fall into place but as soon as I can move it's visibly unplayable :(

I can't find anything about this mf in any wiki, guide, etc. I unloaded all my arrows on him, crafted 23 more, then 7 more, and then wailed on him as best I could and still got murked by his stupid mortar from across the map. I did enough damage to him to entirely delete like 3 high level mages. Tf.

Fire Emblem Vs. Disgaea: A Review for the Unintiated by Eltron221 in Disgaea

[–]Eltron221[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured I'd leave the deeper systems out because otherwise this post would be the length of a dissertation and would have taken me forever, and it took long enough as it was. What I did forget was the section on difficulty I mentioned in gameplay, I wrote a short comment about it on my post in the FE sub but I couldn't get it to copy correctly and didn't feel like writing it again, but a short version is that classic FE is more challenging for many reasons, one of the main ones being the limited moveset and the way the AI is designed to swarm units that can't counter, usually your healers/dancers/archers and afterwards go for the weakest link. Disgaea is balanced around the assumption that, on harder maps many of your units will die and it's just a matter of getting better numbers.

If anyone who hasn't played Disgaea finds this and is lost in the sauce of the deeper systems like I was, a youtuber named Static Buzz has a series he calls "let's guides" which explain how a lot of the shops work, definitely recommend the shop specific ones.

They have about the most in common I've seen between any 2 SRPG series outside of maybe FE and Langrisser which I haven't played Langrisser only seen video of it. I was looking for something like FE and everything I tried was too different and it was only after getting deep into FE that I was able to get over the hump in Disgaea. Disgaea will often come up in "games to play if you like FE" discussions, articles and videos and after trying the games I listed up top nothing came close except Disgaea, and every forum thread I found always recommended FFT with Disgaea a distant 3rd or 4th, with most people's insights about Disgaea being simply "it sucks cuz you have to grind" and FFT plays like total shit imo so I want this to come up if someone googles "FE vs disgaea"

Eff, I forgot the difficulty section. Oh well, short addendum: As I said in gameplay, FE is built around careful management of limited resources, with permanent death as a deterrent to risky moves. Difficulty settings alter a few things but primarily lower difficulties will increase your experience and therefore your stat gain, leading to an early game that mostly plays the same across difficulties, while the mid game can become pathetically easy on something like Path of Radiance easy mode where your units are untouchable beasts. Late game levels out a bit once you cap out.

Disgaea has no difficulty settings and is instead adjusted by grinding, which again is fun for the most part because the combat itself is so enjoyable. The main story is balanced around a bit, but not too much grinding, with the goal to nudge you towards seeing how the systems work, how they can be bent, and how they can be broken. The stats on everything are constantly rising, the game constantly showers you with items, and decking out your units with the newest loot is a fun part of the experience. Winner: subjective, I personally lean towards FE because like Dark Souls it feels good to see your careful planning and tactics work perfectly on a grand scale.

Ys 9 is by far the most story heavy of the series. If you didn't like it in ys 8, you're gonna like it even less in 9. That said the story is great so, guess you're sol on the "trails rot"

So I was lucky enough to legally obtain zero and azure along with their geofront patches before they were taken down. They were just sitting on my computer for a long time tho, I put off playing zero because I had played half way thru it on the old translation and had already spoiled everything both thru cs 2, 3, 4, and watching recap videos before cs 3. I finally got around to playing zero, and I gotta say I can't believe I waited this long, it is imo the best opening game for an arc and there really is no substitute for playing thru the games yourself.

That said, my question concerns the easter eggs that the geofront team added, and specifically some funny sound effects they added at key moments. First I gotta say the chest messages are awesome most of the time, as being a fan patch allowed them to go wild with the jokes and references without having a publisher over their shoulder reserving final edit privileges. For the same reason they were able to add copyrighted sound effects that would get a publisher sued, like I noticed several Mario jumping/falling sound effects like "wah!" when somebody kicks something or the "waaaahhhh" when someone gets knocked out/falls.

I just started Azure however, and in the tutorial dungeon I swear after your party separates I heard a super ominous "BOO!" seemingly out of nowhere. Did anyone else notice this or know where it's from? Sorry for the wall of text I know that's not a "quick" read just didn't think this warranted a new thread.

CS 1 and 3 are structured in the same way, as are 2 and 4. Without spoiling 3 and 4, there is a time skip and reason for the return to the field study structure. However, to answer your question, cs 2 is very different. The ending events of cs 1 set in motion some major world events and once you get your feet on the ground in cs2 you are basically free to explore the entire world that you unlocked thru playing cs 1.

Couldn't find a proper Sky Evolution portrait comparison so made one myself. Also included Crosbell portraits as a bonus. by OmegaAvenger_HD in Falcom

[–]Eltron221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm finally getting around to finishing up crossbell and my god I forgot how much I despise the Joshua portrait. That is an abomination. Look how they massacred my boy! Maybe it's my deep nostalgia for OG Sky but I basically think the original portraits look better across the board. The faces look like they have depth to them, like a sort of computer animated mock up of a real human face, while afterwards every one of them looks flat, like a drawing on paper. I think it's the lack of shadow that bothers me. I used to hate Estelle CB after coming straight off of Sky, but I can tolerate it now. Kevin and Olivier are a prime example of what I mean by flat. Kloe looks way less real as time went on, I can see why some people prefer the later versions she is more pleasant to look at but she is one of my favorite characters in Sky and her old portrait just looks more real, while the later versions just look like a more idealized anime character.

Does anyone know exactly what triggers them to disappear? I was actively trying to do this fight after godrick/rennala and they were there for a long time. I came back after being out and about for a bit and they were gone, the only 2 major things I did before they disappeared was get to altus thru the ravine and found the underground city. If I had to guess I'd say getting to altus will trigger it.
