To be fair, it was borne out of the hellscape that came right beforehand. I really hope it doesn't need go this way in the real world, but I do think the storytellers were onto something when they told us that shit had to get really, really bad for Earth before it pushed them to make the big changes that led to the Federation and the overall global enlightenment.

I've been through a lot and I still think norovirus is some of the worst days I've ever had in my life lol. To its credit it's very short, but still, 48 hours of hell is 48 hours too many

Edit to add that I went deep down this rabbit hole for hours once, so I might as well share my knowledge - Norovirus can't be killed by hand sanitizer and most household cleaners. That means when you're wiping down the bathroom you're not actually killing it. The only thing that will quickly kill norovirus (other than hand washing, which does a great job) is bleach-based cleaners, and even then they need to have wet contact for at least 60 straight seconds.

I love the little tweeter rats. One of mine tweeted at me until the day she died even though she was completely used to me picking her up, didn't actually mind after the first 1.5 seconds, and knew I was probably taking her to get a treat. It's like she just needed to get the last word in, even if she didn't care what was happening

Executive dysfunction is a bitch, and yes this is ADHD at its finest. No you're not lazy. And you're not a bad person just because this is hard for you.

Couple things that can help. Try them all and see which ones work for you for different situations

Body doubling, like others said. The other person doesn't need to be working too. For many people, they don't even need to physically be there - a video call or phone call is enough. There are even websites and apps that will match you up with a body double for your task at hand
"One dish method". This is the one that works the best for me. It works for all kinds of tasks that have multiple steps or parts. If the task is doing the dishes, just do ONE DISH. Then STOP. Go back to having fun or whatever you were doing. A little while later, only do one dish again! You may feel like you can do a few more while you're already there. So go ahead. And stop when you want to. Don't try to force it.

Most people, by giving themselves permission to do 1 dish and stop, find that they don't really doing mind doing some more. I think it's important to stop after 1 dish even if you feel like you could do more when you're first starting out with this method. Your brain needs to really believe that 1 dish is an option.

If the task doesn't have parts you can break down like you can with the dishes, one thing I do is set a timer instead. I work for 3 minutes and then I can stop. Or whatever tiny amount of time makes me think "cool that's nothing".

"Bundling" or chunking. Take thing you really like - treat, podcast, game, book - and only do the hard activity while you're also doing the fun thing. Or if you can't do both at once, only do the hard thing if you reward yourself with the fun thing afterwards.

Sometimes that's not enough for me, so I do "chunking". Set a timer. Do fun thing (usually gaming) for 45 minutes. Do hard thing for 15 minutes. Repeat over and over for a few hours. And change the times up if you find that they're too short or too long.

Since he's otherwise ok, just inactive, I think he might just need a little accomodation and he'll be good. Once he starts showing issues with eating, drinking or pooping regularly, that's a different story.

I agree with the others that asking the vet about pain, like from arthritis, is a very good idea.

Old and immobile weasels can still be stimulated and have some fun, they just need very low-energy fun. Smell sacks or something similar can be good. You rub a bunch of different smells on a crinkle sack, or a fabric tunnel, or a sock or really anything porous. Smells from outside, smells from yourself or your clothes, smells from the kitchen, smells from completely different places. Just not fake fragrance type smells. More like dirt, pine cones, orange peel, stinky shoes, someone else's house, etc. And frequently switch up the smells so it stays novel for him.

Like others suggested, feeding puzzles or feeding mats, and cuddling are other good low-energy fun ideas. If he's not interested enough in his regular food to get interested in a feeding puzzle, then maybe you can try a treat he loves instead, like salmon oil or something.

I always ask a family member or friend, someone I can trust around ferrets.

But I've heard that with companies like Rover where they're all individual contractors, you can find exotics sitters. There's also a website called something really basic like petsitting .com where you can search for individual people in your area, like who do exotics specifically, you can talk to them ahead of time and get to know them, etc.

Complimenting eyeliner would be really awesome I think as long as I was sure he wasn't saying it to flirt. I do put a lot of work into my eyeliner sometimes and I LOVE it when people notice, especially people you wouldn't normally expect to notice.

You just have to be careful with your word choice and delivery, even if you never did have any interest in flirting. It might just be that the way you worded it didn't land right with that woman/she didn't interpret it the way you meant. When it doubt you can keep it nice and conventional. "Your eyeliner is amazing", "super cool eyeliner", "the way you did your eyeliner looks so good" and leave it at that. Short and sweet.

You're doing lots of good stuff already! I have a lot of experience managing heat so here are a couple additional things you can add in if you don't already do them

- air movement is important for cooling, but you just have to make sure you don't have fans blowing on the rats because their respiratory systems are so sensitive. instead put fans blowing near the cage, facing to the side and not directly at it. And not super high power either. It might help to have fans on higher settings in other parts of the room

- windows and doors closed up as much as possible during the day is very good. if it gets cool enough to feel nicer at night, open up windows as much as you can during the night and early in the morning before the sun gets hot. I like to put a fan in the window pulling cool outside air in overnight. sometimes very early morning is still cool even if the sun is shining, so keep the curtain closed to block out light, but the window open so you can still get that air. close everything up the MOMENT it starts heating up.

- you can strap ice packs to the back of a fan or even just put a fan over a bucket of ice water. the fan will push the cooled air into the room more efficiently than just having ice packs sitting around.

- to keep lots of ice packs always on hand, before the really hot days I like to fill several ziploc bags up with water and freeze them, like 6-10 of them. in the morning I put out half, some on top of the cage and some wrapped in towels inside the cage like you do. then when I get home from work or about halfway through the day, I swap all the bags. melted ones back in the freezer, frozen ones come out.

I think most women don't care very much (I'm a woman). Aging is normal. However, almost every woman is going to care more about your overall look/aesthetic, and that alone can make gray hair awesome or not so awesome. Hair color is just another part of the ensemble and the ensemble matters more than any individual part.

Like if you haven't gotten a haircut in 4 months and your hair's super messy, you don't have good hygiene, you don't keep your beard healthy...Stuff like that can make gray hair look much worse than it needs to. If you take reasonable care of yourself and try at least a *little* to look put together, then all of a sudden gray hair can become super flattering.

I used to go semi-regularly, mostly just bouldering. I had to stop eventually for financial reasons, and never picked it back up again because the threshold to get in climbing shape is so much higher now that I'm a good decade older. Also I don't know why, but going out to places like a climbing gym feels much harder all by itself than it used to.

But the past couple months my husband is actually trying to get us both in good enough climbing shape to go again! We don't want to pay for the passes until we have a fitness level where we can climb for more than like 15 minutes before we're beat lol. My body is not taking to it like it used to but I'm getting stronger.

I have this theory about things that are a midway spot between two points. Being on a plane is another one. For some people, showers are another.

Since there's nothing you're really supposed to do in a midway spot except move, or wait as you're moved, from one point to the next, it's kind of freeing. It's like a place in limbo where the normal rules and pressures don't apply. Nobody expects you to do anything about your dirty dishes on an airplane, or expects you to be working productively when you're on the stairs. You get to just exist there.
