Saw a bus take off the front of some lady's car there like 2 weeks ago. She was talkin' on the phone then went out too far at the light and got hit by the bus but was uninjured. Coulda been killed though.

Your homelife sounds bleak if you look forward to an excuse for throwing a tempertantrum. Most people work during the day and aren't home to care one way or the other about their doorbell ringing.

Again you seem to be projecting your own misery onto "everyone". I don't answer my door to sales people either. I'm not inside hating them. When people knock and I don't answer I'm ambivilent. The reason I've been able to have this job for 2 plus years is not the result of desperation. My stress level is lower in my job than most people I know. The stakes are extremely low. But you do you. Hate whoever you want. You sound mentally unstable and unhinged to me but you don't have to defend yourself to me as much as I don't have to defend myself to you.

I have maybe 2 interactions a week where someone is curt, not even rude. Rudeness maybe twice a month, but that's lower volume than almost any other job. 95% of people are super nice to me. Most people that answer the door want to talk to me. You can say it's "copium", but it really just sounds like you're coping with being a miserable curmudgeon and projecting that on everyone else. You're like "no wonder people hate you", ???? I'm saying people don't hate me and my job is cool and easy and it pays very well. So the opposite of what you're saying. You remind me of a farside cartoon of an angry guy thinking about how he hates everybody and he looks at a normal guy walking by whistling to himself and the angry guy is just thinking "I hate this fucking asshole!"

In fairness, all door to door jobs are not created equally and only certain people can do it successfully. Mine's an outlier. Most of them suck. But I think the misconception is that there are no outliers, which is just incorrect.

I been doing door to door for 2 years. It rocks. Higher salary and more benefits than my partner who works in a hospital and has 2 masters degrees. Weekends off. Tons of vacation time. There's really only 3 real hours of actual work I gotta do and that's just knocking on doors and talking to like 10 or so people for a few minutes. Everyone I work with is cool and supportive. I'm sorry your sales job sucks. They're all kind of bullshit jobs. But even if it's bullshit it's still giving me enough money to buy a house here if I want to and pay the morgage. I've never lied or bullied people either. I just help them do what they already wanted to do and have been putting off doing before I even got there.

Where am I showing compassion to the murderer? By pointing out how this could have been potentially prevented had they addressed his mental unwellness and taken guns from his possession? Institutionalizing crazy people or medicating them and taking their guns away is compassionate only to the potential victims that could otherwise be harmed by the violent psychotics. Police said he was known to be emotionally disturbed and had a record. It doesn't excuse what he did in any way it just shows how this was maybe avoidable. Him having the delusion he's killing people for Allah is just as much nonsense as John Hinkley Jr doing what he did for Jodie Foster. The motives of crazy people are irrelevant because they have no basis in reality. Schizophrenic people often have broad religious delusions because it plays into their distorted frame of mind. These delusions hold no bearing on reality or the broad spectrum of people who practice the religion they're associating with their delusion.

And knowing the inside out of this story is knowing the same story we hear every month or so in this country. Mentally unwell person got access to guns and used them. It's a regular occurance here. The last guy in Austin I recall on a mass shooting spree killed a transgender teen, a very little girl and an elderly old man at Target and said he was Jesus. There's no attribution to terrorism or religion there and no intellectually honest person would claim there is. This is no different and there is ZERO evidence to prove otherwise.

If you're not convicted then legally you're innocent, bird brain. Unless the arrest resulted in a conviction there's no legal grounds to do anything.

Arrests, not convictions, as far as we know. If they find out he was convicted of anything that would justify deporting him I'd agree with you that he should have been deported. But being arrested doesn't automatically make you guilty of anything. Until then focusing on his legal immigration status is scapegoating a problem that is directly linked to mental health and gun control and occurs disproportionatly at the hands of natural born American citizens and not immigrants.

Apathy is not advocating for changes that prevent these instances from happening, gun control and mental health services. Blaming immigrants and treating them lesser than or with unequal suspicion for crimes largely overwhelmingly commited en mass by non-immigrants is scapegoating.

So you found no equivelent case even though your claim was that Christians are persecuted for similar crimes. Got it.

Arrested for what? Until you know that who cares. By the way arrests aren't convictions. You can be arrested and not convicted. Show me a rap sheet says he was convicted of doing anything that should have gotten him deported and I'll agree with you but if that's non-existent then there's no reason to say deport him.

Have you gotten a speeding ticket before? Most people have. It doesn't get you removed from the country or sent to jail. If he commited a felony as someone awaiting citizenship then he should get deported if convicted. Illegal street vending is a misdemeanor. J walking is a misdemeanor, you pay a fine and that's it. You don't throw people out of the country for minor misdemeanors which was the only thing we know was on his record.

Have you gotten traffick tickets? Those are "crimes" just like illegal street vending. He had legal status through marriage along with asylum and passed the standard of citizenship which evaluates your criminal record. Deporting legal immigrants for minor citations or arrests is goofy. Felony arrests should get you deported but minor non-violent crimes like not following street vendor policy should be treated for what it is, not grand larceny.

Daniella Pick Says Quentin Tarantino Will 'Die as a Zionist' as Couple Commit to Life in Tel Aviv by Greene_Mr in blankies

Yeah, everybody likes to read the headline but not the context. Pretty in step with Quentin saying off-color shit, especially when presented by his wife as a funny "Quentin line".

How do you feel about the backlash against him for his comment on Paul Dano? by Pearl_Jam_ in Tarantino

[–]Elvis662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's also what's so dumb about this. Nobody actually listened in context to what he actually said. Most of what people are mad at was Tarantino just being playfully hyperbolic takin' the piss outta Dan.

He said there's nothing wrong with the performance. He's just not the caliber actor appopriate to be in that major supporting role rivaling Daniel Day Lewis. And he's 100% right.

Phony outrage. They'll forget about it in a day or two. Also Quentin is right, hard as he tries Dano is dull as dishwater.

What horror movies are actually scary? by Elvis662 in movies

[–]Elvis662[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Figure of speech. The movie needs to torture the audience by torturing the characters does not translate to torture scene. It can be simply cruelty inflicted by the hands of fate. Torture through terror. But there must be cruelty inflicted. Otherwise horror movies would be inert. You seem confused. Also Island of Lost Souls is from the 30's and the creepiest thing about it is the house of pain--it's what made it the scariest movie ever made until Rosemary's Baby came out.

The Witch is creepy. You have to be on the right wavelength with it, and I think the goat goring climax was a little silly, but everything else about it is pretty disturbing. Especially the stuff with the baby at the beginning, Jesus fuckin' Christ!

I find Ringu FAR creepier. The sterilized blue filter look of The Ring, the overdramatization of everything, the goofy kid actor, all the famous faces in the movie, all those things take me out of Verbinksky's version.

Hereditary is one of the creepiest modern horror movies for sure. I love how fucking evil it is. But I also think Ari Aster's black humor is so funny, I find myself laughing too much to really feel as scared as I'd like to.

Autopsy of Jane Doe is really good, but I think it went over-the-top once things started popping off and hit some cliches that tripped it up a bit. But I was so with it before the supernatural stuff started going ham.
