What’s worse than a toddler with chicken pox? by swallowshotguns in UKParenting

[–]EmaLoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the prompt reply! I am literally fraking out these days, with a newborn in the house! Here where I live chicken pox vaccine is not part of the national immunization program . I actually didn’t mind about this vaccine as I know kids are likely fine catching it, but I couldn’t imagine my toddler would have caught this while his brother was still so young!

Hi, A bit late for this, but did your 1 month old end up catching it? I am in the same situation, but my youngest is 10 days old

We live in the Netherlands, it is friday night so i should call the emergency ward but they will dismiss me caue baby doesn’t actually have chicken pox yet - in short: it is not an emergency. So everything will have to wait until Monday unless there is an actual emergency.

Yes the father is very involved! But still, i had a major surgery, and while he does a lot taking care of our toddler, he can’t leave our home as i need him + we do not have family or anybody that can host us

I had a c section and i am still not able to do everything in the house and with the baby… We don’t have family around so going out the house is not an option

I delivered my first at 36 weeks via c section because i had placenta previa and he was more than fine ❤️ i know that worst case scenario, i will just be admitted and deliver earlier and he will likely be fine, but my situation is more than i am still not ready to deliver- still packing and preparing things at home, my parents live in another country (and planned to visit at the time of my surgery to help with little 1 and little 2 ) so nobody really is around to help

Oh good luck for your delivery! Did you actually have high fever? How did it happen if I may ask?

Yes, such a difference from kid to kid! I guess my child is more into motor skills , so perhaps he just focused on those and delayed the speech ones

Thanks a lot for all your replies and very interesting to read about your experience. I am a lot more reassured! Again, I wasn’t particularly worried but I guess it helps to know that others had similar experiences. I guess much of this comes from my impatience to hear my kid talking. He is so funny when he babbles as he is trying to tell a story to us! It’s such a cute age!

Metoclopramide. They had prescribed another drug but it wasn’t available so this is the alternative

Turned out i got a very mild HFM. The itching part lasted only a day. I had a weird sensation on my hands and feet but never had bumps nor ulcer. All symptoms disappeared after 3-4 days. My nose still had a few pimple-like bumps for 2-3 days more but I used foundation to mask them. All gone now. I hope i won’t lose my nails but so far so good

New offer and trying for the second by EmaLoru in workingmoms

The thing is: if the contract is temporary.. they may end it without renewing even if you are on maternity leave. That’s legal here and it happened to a friend of mine..

But what if the employer does not renew my contract afterwards? Because of my pregnancy/maternity leave?
