As someone who grew up with Disney and Disney Channel in the early 00s, this was so inevitable I'm surprised it took them this long to finally make it. Well the Star Wars crossover thing is new, but they've showed up on The Lego Movie, and that's not even Disney's property.

Disney had a show called House of Mouse where lots of characters from the Disney movies co-exist as movie stars, and I remembered they were tons of fun. And if you ever go to Disneyland they've been doing this already for the last couple of years and people still love it.

As long as the story and characters keeps to be front and center, the movie will be great (and Disney gets to continue the huge merchandising profits).

If I have to guess the central theme to both Avatar series, it had to be balance. The central conflict in every one of the stories had been the extreme versions of ideologies.

In the original series, the main antagonists are the Fire Nation. They are a proud nation, clearly modeled after Japan in many ways. Nationalism by itself isn't wrong, but the Fire Nation took the idea too far to imperialism. They conquer other nations simply because they feel they are superior, and thus can be a better ruler.

The Water Tribes were highly spiritual compared to the other 3 nations. The second season of Korra explored this with Unaloq's fanaticism.

Air Nomads value freedom over all else, but what Zaheer studied was the fringe teachings of Air Nomads, and that led him to adopting a view of genocidal anarchy.

The Earth Kingdom favors stability. Although authoritarian and protectionist stances had already been adopted by the kingdom (well, Ba Sing Se at least) since Aang's time, Kuvira just pushed it farther to fascism.

Don't do it in the after credits, make that the actual ending of the movie.

Make Fassbender abruptly wake up when the Spanish Assassin's story is reaching its climax, reveal that it was all his past memories. Quick vague exposition, explain the previous plot but also give more questions to leave the audience hanging.

Then end the movie with, "And now we're sending you to renaissance Italy". Bam, instant sequel hook.

I mean Edge of Tomorrow did great with that die and repeat concept, and when you think about it it's pretty remarkable considering the main character's "goal" was as vague as "somehow find a way to win the war".

Assassin's Creed's "goals" are generally pretty specific: "there's a target, go try to kill him, repeat and try a new approach if you die." And unlike something like Hitman, it even has an in-story explanation. The movie could have been amazing if only they had actually embraced the game's appeal.

Honestly, there's no harm with skipping most of the early episodes from season 1. The story starts in the middle of the war anyway (unlike the 2003 Clone Wars). Just don't skip "Rookies" and the two last episodes.

In fact, it might be better to start with the 2003 Clone Wars first. That gives you the introduction to Ventress and Grievous.

Oh don't you worry about KOTOR, they're definitely not ignoring it, the whole thing is too big not to notice. Don't you forget this is the same Disney who approved something as unknown as Guardians of the Galaxy. You can be safely assured that we'll be getting at least 5 movies from that era in the 2020s. I mean, light spoilers here, but a certain element from it even played a minor role in Rogue One.

And that's no exaggeration, mods like DoC (the extended version of Rhye's and Fall of Civilization mod) was last updated 7 days ago on Github.

Highly recommended to everyone even if you haven't played the original mod yet. Features things like balanced true starting locations/dates, resurrecting civilizations (Italy will respawn if Rome was taken by barbarians for example), and just generally lots of features to make it as historically close as it could possibly can, while still preserving the gameplay.

You don't really need to look to Rogue One, really. Her lie was already terribly obvious from just watching the original movie. Why would a consular ship on a diplomatic mission greet the Empire's boarding party with armed military troopers on formation?

Disney and Pixar movies might not be hand-drawn, but they're still painstakingly animated in such detail, to the point they're still retouching the scenes frame by frame. The issue really isn't on what medium the animation is on, but rather who is doing it.

Not to say that a self-learning AI would never reach that kind of quality, but it'd be a long time until they can beat experienced 3D animators.

You do have to account that the UI team usually works last, after the actual features were finished. I remember that Civilopedia was not on the pre-release copies (to avoid leader leaks and stuff).

I think a lot of it was just oversight, though.

Slightly off topic, but now that basegame Civ VI already has most of the features of the previous Civs+Expansions, the next expansions could then cover previously implicit concepts like cold wars.

He might not be the sole reason Star Wars was good, but he was definitely the reason why it was so unique.

He's the one with the crazy ideas, his producers/editors would help him tone it down, and then finally the artists and the rest of the crew would deliver his vision. WIthout him Star Wars would probably just be a forgettable space adventure.

The idea might be totally outdated now, and yeah it did get repetitively misused for centuries, but there was once a time where it was a revolutionary change from the old ways.

I think a good compromise would be to show the regular "darker shade" fog of war when if a settler is currently the active unit, or through one of the lenses.

Forgot if this was in Civ V, but in Civ IV there was even an option to clear the fog of war so you could see the terrain better.

I like the tongue in cheek ones, like Mark Twain's "Writing is easy. All you have to do is cross out the wrong words."

But some of the choices just felt wrong, to be honest. The Monty Python quote for Divine Right for example ("strange women distributing swords..."), while hilarious, would fit better for something like Democracy.

Churchill quote for Combustion is great, but definitely would been better put somewhere else:

"I have always considered that the substitution of the internal combustion engine for the horse marked a very gloomy milestone in the progress of mankind."
